Last minute customs clearance
According to the assessment from the Border Gate Management Center (Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board), the number of vehicles carrying goods through the province's border gates at this time is equal to the time before the Covid-19 outbreak.
This result is a correct proof of the mechanisms and policies of the State and Lang Son in creating a transparent import-export environment; along with the efforts of functional forces to create the most favorable conditions for import-export enterprises...
At Tan Thanh border gate in the days before Tet, the volume of vehicles carrying agricultural products and fresh fruits for import and export is between 350 and 400 vehicles per day. On the 30th of Tet alone, the number of vehicles remaining at Tan Thanh yard is only 60; of which 30 vehicles are waiting for export.
The functional forces working at the border gate have deployed specific tasks and topics; coordinated together to inspect goods, arrange vehicles, review customs clearance procedures and documents, etc.
Captain Dong Dinh Yen, Deputy Head of Tan Thanh Border Control Station, Lang Son Province, said that the unit has developed and deployed a specific plan to each team and checkpoint to guide drivers in and out of the border gate area smoothly; at the same time, coordinate with forces at the border gate to strictly control people and vehicles entering and exiting the area, propagate to businesses and drivers about border laws, ensure security and order in the border gate area, especially during Tet.
At Huu Nghi international border gate, according to the local authorities, the number of cargo vehicles still in the areas and yards is about 30; of which, 10 vehicles are undergoing customs clearance procedures waiting for export. In the import and export cargo area, specialized border guards, customs, and medical quarantine forces remain in position to perform their duties until 8:00 p.m. Vietnam time the same day.
Mr. Phung Van Ba, Deputy Head of the Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch, said that the unit has built a duty schedule and assigned officers to quickly handle customs procedures for businesses. Especially, during Tet, if businesses have customs procedures, the unit is still ready to handle them.

Tet gifts for drivers
According to the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone, the number of cargo vehicles still remaining at the border gate areas in the area is about 100. This number has decreased significantly compared to hundreds of vehicles before because Lang Son province's specialized agencies have proactively announced the operating hours of the border gates, so businesses have quickly grasped the information to regulate goods.
For drivers who remain at the ports and border gate areas on the 30th of Tet and cannot return to their localities to celebrate the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has coordinated with relevant agencies to develop a plan and implement gift giving. This is an annual activity supported by many supporting units as well as receiving much attention from long-distance drivers.
Accordingly, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone has deployed to give away over 100 gifts, each worth 800 thousand VND including cash and Tet candies. At the same time, some ports also create all conditions and support for cargo owners and drivers in terms of accommodation.
Mr. Trinh Tan Phong, a driver from Soc Trang province, said that this was the third year he celebrated Tet at the border gate. Although the gift was small, the drivers were very happy and excited. Celebrating Tet far from home at the border was a bit sad, but with the care and encouragement of the province and the forces, Mr. Phong and the people here were able to overcome their homesickness.
Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, said that promoting the tradition of great solidarity and the spirit of mutual love, the management board coordinated with relevant agencies to organize a program to give Tet gifts to drivers at the border gates who could not return home in time for Tet, to encourage and support drivers and cargo owners in both material and spiritual terms.
Hopefully in the coming time, businesses and cargo owners will continue to accompany Lang Son province, contributing to the further development of the province's border gate economy.
