According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the low pressure trough connecting with the hot low pressure area in the West continues to develop and expand to the Southeast. Above, the subtropical high pressure has an axis through the South Central - South region with weak intensity and gradually retreats to the East. It is forecasted that from April 17-20, East wind disturbance (causing rain) will tend to develop in the area.
Forecast, during today and tonight April 18 (10th day of the 3rd lunar month), the weather in Ho Chi Minh City will generally be rain-free, hot during the day, with rain in some places in the evening and at night. The lowest temperature is 27-28 degrees, the highest is 34-35 degrees, some places are over 35 degrees.
Specifically, during the day, districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, Phu Nhuan,... will have local heat with the highest temperature of about 35 degrees Celsius, especially in Binh Tan district and Hoc Mon district, the heat can reach 36 degrees Celsius.

In the late afternoon and night (from about 4pm to 7pm), some areas in Ho Chi Minh City are forecast to have rain, including District 12, Go Vap, Binh Tan and Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh districts. The Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that these will be localized rains in a narrow area, with small amounts of rain, ending quickly and a probability of rain of about 60%.
Yesterday (April 17), heat waves continued to occur widely in the Southeast region, with some areas experiencing severe heat waves, however the intensity of the heat waves decreased compared to 24 hours ago. The heat waves in the Western provinces began to lessen.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the heat wave will continue to spread widely. In the next 48 hours, the heat wave will likely narrow in area and decrease in intensity. The highest temperature in the Southern region is from 35-37 degrees, some places above 37 degrees.
Around April 20-21, heat waves are likely to increase again in this area.
“Due to the effects of heat, low humidity in the air, there is a risk of explosions, fires in residential areas and forest fires. In addition, heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time” - the Southern Hydrometeorological Station warned.
