Nokia G42 launched with easy repairability

According to Digital Trends , with the Nokia G42, users can easily replace a cracked screen, battery, USB-C charging port, or broken back cover without having to take it to a repair center or throw the phone away. To do this, HMD Global has partnered with iFixit, where users can order replacement parts and follow instructions to install them at home. That's something we rarely see in the smartphone world , even from the best smartphones from Apple, Samsung, and Google.

When it comes to the Nokia G42, a new series of durability and compression tests have been used to ensure it can last a long time, with the battery said to retain 80% of its capacity after 800 charge cycles, which equates to around 4 years of use, while the software gets 2 years of major OS updates and 3 years of monthly security updates.

HMD has given users two color options, a bright purple and a darker gray, plus made sure the specs are attractive too. The phone has a 6.56-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 480+ chip with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot, as well as a 5,000mAh battery, NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the back, the phone has a 50MP main camera, along with a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. There is also an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The phone is 8.55mm thick and weighs 193 grams, has an IP52 water resistance rating and a unibody design with a back panel made from 85% recycled materials. It has a fingerprint sensor on the side of the frame.

The Nokia G42 is now officially available from HMD Global at different prices depending on the market. In the UK, the device is priced at around £252 on Nokia's own website.
