In the program Vietnamese Family Shelter, witnessing the difficult circumstances of children, People's Artist Tu Long had emotional stories about his childhood.
People's Artist Tu Long.
The first case is Nguyen Van Dung (2010), currently living with his grandparents in Nho Quan, Ninh Binh. His parents divorced when Dung was only 3 years old, his mother left and left him to live with his father since then. In 2014, his father had a stroke and passed away, leaving him to rely on his grandparents who are over 70 years old. Knowing that his family was in difficulty, Dung never asked for anything from his grandparents. He went to class by bicycle and brought cold rice from home to school, eating just enough to get through the meal, which moved the artists.
Dung’s grandfather has an eye disability and cannot work. His grandmother catches snails and exchanges money to buy rice to eat. The family mainly depends on his monthly disability allowance of 720,000 VND and the family’s 2 acres of peanut land. The image of his 73-year-old grandmother still having to work hard to support the family makes many people feel sorry.
People's Artist Tu Long could not hide his emotion when witnessing the orphan's situation. He said: "In fact, Dung is also very happy because he is loved endlessly by his grandparents, but a child always desires and longs for the love of his parents, which are very ordinary desires.
I understand that life has many hardships, but the most lacking thing is the lack of love. I hope that through this program, Dung's mother or relatives on his mother's side will give him more love and care in the future."
People's Artist Tu Long was moved by the situation of Nguyen Van Dung.
People's Artist Tu Long said that he himself was a child who lived with his grandmother since he was little, so his grandmother was truly a grandmother, a mother, and a teacher, so that despite the lack of material things, he could still live in love. The male artist felt that Dung was a good nephew and a good student, so he hoped that through the program, he would receive more love from everyone and be more confident in life.
Also in the program, People's Artist Tu Long was also moved by the situation of Nguyen Thi Khanh Vy (2012), currently living with her brother and grandmother in Kim Son, Ninh Binh. Khanh Vy's father passed away in February 2023 due to a stroke. Last November, her mother also passed away due to cancer. Losing two of her closest loved ones in a row has become a great pain, causing Khanh Vy and her siblings to collapse.
Since then, the two children have been left to rely on their grandmother, who is over 60 years old and is paralyzed on one side of her body, so she cannot work. They depend on each other to survive thanks to the monthly allowance of 720,000 VND and the support of Khanh Vy's uncles and aunts. The miserable situation of Khanh Vy's two siblings has made many people feel sorry and unable to hold back their tears.
People's Artist Tu Long encouraged Khanh Vy and her brother.
People's Artist Tu Long gave words of encouragement to his family, especially Tung (Khanh Vy's brother). The male artist encouraged Tung to be cheerful and try to grow up to take care of his grandmother and younger sister in the future.
“When I was your age, I already knew how to do many things, not only helping my grandparents and parents but also working with people around me to make money. I used to do many jobs, from selling ice cream, helping with mortar work as a bricklayer... I did it all. I used to do things that I had to do because of the hardships of life to grow up. So I think Tung had an even harder time being the breadwinner, having to take over the family from his father. I hope he will try to study well so as not to disappoint his parents and grandmother's care,” People's Artist Tu Long added.
With words of encouragement, People's Artist Tu Long and MC Thanh Van Hugo decided to do their best to complete the program's challenges. They hope to bring home the first gift, encouraging the families of the orphans to overcome difficulties.
