Hanoi volleyball "escape poverty"
At the beginning of 2025, Hanoi volleyball teams still had to be self-conscious because of their financial potential. Because of this, for many years, Hanoi men's and women's volleyball teams have always been known as "poor families".
It is true that they are poor because they all depend on the city budget allocated to the sports sector and then allocated to the volleyball department of the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center. To the point that the teams always have to reluctantly say “no” to hiring foreign players.
Meanwhile, many other teams have foreign players. This leads to the loss of Hanoi volleyball teams in tournaments in the national competition system. Without the excellent youth training foundation for a long time, perhaps Hanoi volleyball teams will have difficulty competing in the national championship - the highest level of Vietnamese volleyball.

At that time, the only wish of the managers and coaches of Hanoi volleyball was to have a sponsor to accompany them. And to do that, they could only rely on the appearance of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation. Thereby, creating a more open mechanism in the approach to businesses.
In fact, as planned, the Hanoi Volleyball Federation was launched in the first half of 2025. But due to procedural issues, the Federation could not launch, which meant that the moves to support Hanoi volleyball teams could not take place. It was not until last August that the Hanoi Volleyball Federation was launched and immediately made its mark.
The first is to support the Hanoi men's volleyball team to have foreign players for the first time. The team has striker Kuon Mom from Cambodia to participate in the second phase of the 2025 national championship. Kuon Mom is 1m98 tall, plays the striker position and is an important striker of the Cambodian men's volleyball team. In the 2023 and 2024 seasons, this player went to Vietnam to play for the old Long An team (now Tay Ninh).
The appearance of foreign player Kuon Mom marks a turning point for Hanoi men's volleyball. This is the first foreign player of this team in the national championship. It is not known how effective the appearance of Kuon Mom will be, but at least it will bring motivation to the capital men's volleyball team in the coming time.
And most recently, with the connection from the Hanoi Volleyball Federation, the Hanoi women's volleyball team under the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center has received support from Tasco Auto Joint Stock Company through a cooperation agreement. Accordingly, from October 1, 2025, the team will be named Hanoi Women's Volleyball Club - Tasco Auto and will be accompanied by other support.
The Hanoi women's volleyball team is a familiar name in the domestic volleyball world. In 2023, Hanoi Club won the national A-class championship and won the right to compete in the 2024 national championship. Right in this year's A-class tournament, the Hanoi women's team entered the final round to compete for a ticket to the next level. Not to mention, from this October, experienced Thai expert Kittipong Pornchartyingcheep will start working with the Hanoi women's volleyball team - Tasco Auto to prepare for the final round of the 2025 national A-class tournament which will take place in October.
Mr. Bui Dinh Loi - Head of the Volleyball Department (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center), also the General Secretary of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation, also added that it is expected that in 2026, the Hanoi women's volleyball team will also be able to sign contracts with a number of high-quality domestic players. That is the result of the appearance of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation with specific actions. Right now, many people believe that the Hanoi volleyball teams have "escaped poverty".
More sports federations are needed to make their mark.
Supporting and accompanying Hanoi volleyball teams is just a part of the strategy of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation. In the next 5-year action plan of the Hanoi Volleyball Federation, the 3 main action goals are developing elite volleyball, developing school volleyball and grassroots volleyball, including soft volleyball, which are being quickly implemented. And clearly, there have been significant marks.
The Hanoi Volleyball Federation is also the 25th Sports Federation of Hanoi. And as many people have said, if any Sports Federation or Association of Hanoi could create the same mark as the Hanoi Volleyball Federation, perhaps the grassroots and high-performance sectors of Hanoi would be many times stronger than they are now.
Unfortunately, not all Federations in Hanoi have been able to fully demonstrate their role. Some Federations have even fallen into a state of "being there but not there" for many years. The most obvious case is the Hanoi Athletics Federation. The last time the Federation held a Congress was more than ten years ago. In recent years, the Federation has been almost inactive. That is a paradox in a locality with the strongest running movement in the country, an athletics team that is also among the top in the country and always has room for development.
The Department of Culture and Sports of the city has also repeatedly requested the Federation to hold the Congress, but so far there has been no concrete result. Therefore, there is a proposal for the state management agency of sports to take stronger measures against the delay in organizing the Congress of not only the City Athletics Federation. In other words, allowing a Sports Federation to exist without any activities for many years is also a huge waste.
Meanwhile, many businesses and individuals also affirmed their willingness to join the new City Athletics Federation. They all believe that they can bring more positive things to the activities of the Federation and to Hanoi athletics.
In fact, not only the Hanoi Athletics Federation but also a number of other Hanoi Sports Federations have fallen behind schedule in reorganizing the Congress and are operating at a standstill, unable to contribute to the movement as initially expected.
Therefore, it is necessary for Sports Federations in Hanoi to continue to leave a strong mark like the Hanoi Volleyball Federation has shown in recent times, instead of "being born for the sake of it".
