Desire to conquer 10 points
Right after the results of the 2023 high school graduation exam were announced, Dan Thanh happily shared: "At this moment, I am truly happy, joyful and emotional. Because after all my efforts and attempts, I have achieved the expected results."
The only 10-point literature exam in the country is 11 pages long.
Dan Thanh had intended to study natural sciences and focused on block A01 (math, physics, English). However, when she reached grade 11, this female student had an unexpected turn when she decided to study block D01 (math, literature, English).
Dan Thanh explained: "I got a score of 10 in literature in this exam thanks largely to Master Nguyen Thi Luong, my homeroom teacher and literature teacher. She was the one who inspired my passion for literature. In grade 11, Ms. Luong felt that I had the ability in literature, so she advised me to pursue block D01 and invited me to join the school's literature team to participate in the provincial literature competition. I listened and won second prize in that competition. And since then, I have longed to conquer a score of 10 in literature in the 2023 high school graduation exam."
Among all the candidates this year, Dan Thanh (right) is the only one who "won" a perfect score of 10 in literature.
And that wish has come true. In this year's high school graduation exam, Dan Thanh was the only person to get a perfect score of 10 in literature.
"In my opinion, there are two factors that helped my exam "win over" the examiners. First, the social argumentation questions touched my emotions. I applied a lot of the knowledge that the teacher imparted in class to do the test. And perhaps during the writing test, I "sublimated" each word more, so I put all my heart into expressing my work. As for the literary argumentation test, I conveyed more knowledge about literary theory as well as argued many reasons in the test. Thanks to that, I helped convince the reader and made the essay get a high score," Dan Thanh shared.
Dan Thanh also said: "The test time is 120 minutes and I used all the time to complete the test as completely as possible. Some people will wonder how many pages of test paper I wrote, the answer is that I wrote 11 pages (nearly 3 test papers - PV)".

Secret to getting high score in literature
There are opinions that to get a high score in literature, you need to write a lot, and present your essay on many pages. However, according to the only candidate who scored 10 in literature in the 2023 high school graduation exam and is also the first student of Nghia Minh High School to ever score 10 in literature in the high school graduation exam, "The necessary factor for the essay to receive a high score is to write exactly on the required focus of the topic. And the sufficient factor is that the essay must have creative points and additional ideas to create a difference compared to other candidates".
Dan Thanh shares his experience in studying literature well: "To be successful in anything, you need love and passion. And studying literature is no exception. If you love literature, you will understand and enjoy literary works. Through that, you will study well and achieve the desired results. In addition, don't forget to read many books and newspapers to improve and have more vocabulary to be able to express your writing more smoothly and coherently."

Dan Thanh plans to apply for the first choice of block D01 to the PR (Public Relations) major at the National Economics University (Hanoi). "Because I am an extrovert, I like to communicate, I like to interact with people around me. And especially I like to promote product brands, so I chose that major," Dan Thanh said.
In addition to a score of 10 in literature, Dan Thanh also achieved a high score in the 2023 high school graduation exam.
On the morning of July 18, Dan Thanh said she received many congratulations from friends, teachers, and family. "My parents already knew that I got a 10 in literature and had high results in the 2023 high school graduation exam, so they are very happy and proud of me. It is very likely that soon, I will be rewarded by my parents (laughs)," Dan Thanh shared.
Master Nguyen Thi Luong, Dan Thanh's homeroom teacher and literature teacher, said: "Dan Thanh has been an excellent student for all three years of high school. She is very good at literature. This girl is one of three members of the literature team that I selected. In the recent provincial literature competition, Dan Thanh had the highest score in the group and won second prize. After that exam, my teacher and I set the next goal of trying to get a 10 in literature in the 2023 high school graduation exam. It can be said that both the teacher and the student are eager for a 10."
Master Luong added: "We set goals, hoped together, and after the results came out, I was really moved. It was even more surprising that in the whole country there was only one 10 in literature. I am happy for Dan Thanh, because after all the efforts, enthusiasm and passion for literature, she achieved a high score."
