Raising children to be successful thanks to policy loans

In recent years, policy loans from the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank (SPB) in Thu Thua have helped many students in the area continue their studies as well as contribute to improving people's lives and reducing poverty in the locality.

Thanks to policy capital, the family of Ms. Tran Thi Kim Van and Mr. Nguyen Van Huu (residing in Hamlet 1, My An Commune) has the conditions to raise their children to study, have stable jobs, and contribute to poverty reduction.

One of the households that used the capital from the Social Policy Bank under the student loan program for the right purpose and achieved high efficiency is the family of Ms. Tran Thi Kim Van and Mr. Nguyen Van Huu (residing in Hamlet 1, My An Commune, Tay Ninh Province).

Ms. Van works as a worker at a cashew factory, while Mr. Huu is a bricklayer. According to Ms. Van, in the past, the family's life always revolved around simple meals and daily worries, but she and her husband were determined to raise their two sons, Nguyen Hoang Nguyen and Nguyen Hoang Vu, to be successful in their studies. The income of both husband and wife was not much, just enough to cover the essential living expenses. As the children grew up, the burden of tuition fees, books, clothes and other expenses increased, making them worried and anxious.

“Although it was hard, my husband and I never thought of letting our children drop out of school early to help the family. We believe that education is the only way for our children to have a better future, to escape the vicious cycle of hardship that their parents are going through,” Ms. Van shared.

A big turning point came to Ms. Van's family when the Commune Women's Union introduced and guided them to access preferential loans from the Thu Thua Social Policy Bank Transaction Office. The loan amount of 60 million VND, although not too large, was extremely important, helping them solve their immediate difficulties, especially covering all the education costs for their two children. Understanding the hardships of their parents, both of their children are obedient and studious. Up to now, their eldest son has a job in Ho Chi Minh City. The youngest son is currently a second-year student at Cao Thang Technical College.

The story of Mr. Huu and Ms. Van’s family is a testament to the effectiveness of the State’s preferential credit policy for the poor and other policy beneficiaries. Loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies not only help families overcome immediate difficulties but also act as a “leverage” for them to rise up, change their lives and create a bright future for their children.

From their story, they hope that in the coming time, the Party and the State will continue to pay attention to credit policies for poor households, near-poor households, and families in difficult circumstances; supplement credit sources with higher loan amounts, longer loan terms, and expand the range of households eligible for loans,... so that people have capital to do business and build prosperous and happy families./.
