Thanh Nhan was injured during the U23 Vietnam team's training session on the evening of July 16 in Indonesia. He left the session and had to ask for help from medical staff to leave the field.
According to the test results this morning, Thanh Nhan suffered a ligament injury in her left ankle and will not be able to recover in time for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament. Previously, Thanh Nhan was absent from the 2023 Asian Cup Finals as well as the bronze medal match at the 32nd SEA Games (Cambodia) due to injury.
To fill the gap in force, coach Kim Sang-sik has called up midfielder Le Van Thuan. Thanh Nhan, meanwhile, has been sent home for treatment. According to the plan, Van Thuan will arrive in Jakarta tomorrow, July 18.
The U23 Vietnam team participated in the Southeast Asian U23 Championship as the defending champion, aiming for the second time. This is also an important stepping stone for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand at the end of the year. The U23 Vietnam team therefore includes the core of the players preparing for the 33rd SEA Games.
In Group B, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Laos on July 19 and U23 Cambodia on July 22. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team's main opponents are expected to be host U23 Indonesia and U23 Thailand.
