Part 3 of the series 'Dunes' suddenly changed its name

After the first two parts were box office phenomena, the final part of the 'Dunes' series directed by Denis Villeneuve has just released its first information.

Accordingly, instead of being named Dune Messiah or Sand Savior like the original work by Frank Herbert that the audience predicted, the return of the character Paul Akarris as the "spiritual leader" will simply be named Dune: Part Three or Sand Dune: Part 3 like the previous films.

Dune: Part 3 continues the star-studded series like the previous two parts.

In addition to this information, the film was revealed to also feature eye-catching scenes shot using IMAX cameras, but not entirely like Christopher Nolan 's The Odyssey - which is being promoted as the first and only film to date to use this technology entirely.

Previously, the news that the entire film was shot with IMAX cameras made viewers "restless". Specifically, in an interview on CNBC, Richard Gelfond - CEO of IMAX hinted that the next Dune would be shot entirely with the company's exclusive cameras, but it seems he misspoke.

According to the revelations, filming for Dune: Part 3 will begin soon with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya reprising their roles and returning. This part will also see Anya Taylor-Joy's lead role revealed at the end of part 2. Notably, "Aquaman" Jason Momoa has also confirmed his return, making the film an "all-star" movie.

Last year, Villeneuve spoke about the film and said that the Dune sequel "will not be the completion of the trilogy". He said: "The important thing for people to understand is that Part 1 and Part 2 are a double feature, they are inseparable. They belong to the first book by Frank Herbert."

The filmmaker hopes to create "something that feels different and has its own identity." He also previously denied that he would adapt all of Herbert's original books, arguing that because the later parts mostly leaned towards the author's philosophy of his fantasy world , adapting it into a work that fits the previous two parts would be impossible. So the series will officially stop with this third part.

Dune: Part 3 is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2026.
