The objective of the activity is to propagate, raise awareness, connect the community, call for joint action to contribute to preventing the harmful effects of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, heated tobacco, shisha and other new tobacco products; promote the construction of a smoke-free environment to protect the health of adolescents, women, children and the community in general.
Through the Communication Initiative, the Vietnam Women's Union calls for the support of policymakers in developing and promulgating regulations to prevent the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, shisha and other new tobacco products.
At the same time, this activity also demonstrates the cooperation and participation of the Vietnam Women's Union system with the health sector and the community in preventing and combating the harmful effects of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, heated tobacco, shisha and other new tobacco products.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Phan Thi Hai, Deputy Director of the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund (PCTH) shared: “In Vietnam, in recent years, products called electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco, and shisha have appeared. These products are currently not allowed to be imported, traded, and circulated in the domestic market, and are on the rise among students.
Meanwhile, the work of inspection, examination and handling of violations of the law on tobacco control is not yet carried out regularly; the fact that cigarettes are sold everywhere, the price of cigarettes is cheap, and the tax on cigarettes is low, which also makes access to tobacco products easier, affecting the effectiveness of tobacco control work, threatening the health, especially of teenagers, women and girls.

The Strategy clearly states the responsibilities of ministries, branches and agencies: Proposing to issue regulations on preventing electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, shisha and other new tobacco products in the community.
According to the Organizing Committee, the communication initiative to compose the dance "Smoke-free dance - Smoke-free life" for individuals/groups without age or gender restrictions is being implemented synchronously at the Women's Union of 63 provinces/cities and universities/colleges nationwide.
Participating in the Communication Initiative to create the dance “Smoke-Free Dance – Smoke-free life” is an opportunity for members of the Women’s Union, men and young women across the country to spread and convey messages about preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco products, especially in the period when electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, shisha and other new tobacco products are becoming increasingly popular and targeting young people, causing great harm to the health of future generations.
