Overview of the Forum

With its rich cultural potential and strong identity, Vietnam has all the conditions to develop the cultural industry into a spearhead industry, contributing increasingly to the national GDP; creating many jobs; improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people; and promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that to continue developing the cultural industries, the whole society needs to join hands. In particular, the press plays a particularly important role. The press is a bridge to inspire and promote cultural values; it is a pioneering force to spread new initiatives and values.

At the same time, the press also condemns negative aspects, protects identity; is a forum for criticism and policy suggestions to promote innovation.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh commented that the strong development of the cultural industry in recent times has been accompanied by the press. Many art programs, tourist seasons, festivals, etc. have built their brands through the media lens of the press. Thereby, they have become major cultural and tourism events, attracting the participation of a large number of domestic people and international tourists.

Traditional art forms such as tuong, cheo, cai luong... or talented young artists have reached international level thanks to the spread and promotion of media and press.

Reality TV shows, game shows, and talk shows about culture, art, and creativity have contributed to discovering and nurturing young talents; creating a healthy and attractive playground for young people and the public.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh assessed that these successes show that culture is the foundation; the press plays a leading role in knowledge. The connection between the cultural industry and the press is the key to promoting innovation and promoting Vietnamese cultural values to the world.
