Con Son-Kiep Bac welcomes about 65,000 tourists on weekends

At the end of September 2025, the number of tourists flocking to the world cultural heritage site Con Son-Kiep Bac (in Tran Hung Dao ward, Hai Phong city) increased compared to the same period in previous years.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, on the weekend alone (September 27-28), the relic site welcomed about 65,000 visitors to visit, offer incense and worship.

Meanwhile, in 2023, the number of visitors to Con Son-Kiep Bac during the two weekends only reached about 15,000 visitors.

The impressive number of tourists visiting the relic site in recent days not only affirms the attraction of the heritage value of Con Son-Kiep Bac but also shows the effectiveness of promoting the heritage after being honored as a World Cultural Heritage and the city is actively preparing to organize the festival.

In July 2025, the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex was recognized by the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Cultural Heritage, in which the Con Son-Kiep Bac special national relic site is one of the five relic sites of Hai Phong belonging to this complex.

The UNESCO recognition has enhanced the status of the site, attracting tourists, especially international tourists. The event has been reported by the media and widely spread by the people with deep pride, creating a strong effect in the community, urging local people to return to the heritage.

With the city's attention, direction, and provision of full and timely information, propaganda work was carried out simultaneously both visually at the relic and through many media channels with attractive and rich content.

Along with information products broadcast on newspapers, radio and television, many social networking sites and groups also spread news articles, reports, videos, visual images, infographics, etc. to help people and tourists easily receive and know more about the values of heritage, arouse national pride and create interest and demand to visit and experience.

This is a natural media effect, contributing to multiplying the appeal of heritage and festivals.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, a resident of Cam Giang commune, Hai Phong city, said that last weekend, September 28, when she returned to the relic site, she clearly felt the heat of the festival atmosphere even though it had not yet begun.

On the way to Kiep Bac temple, cars lined up in a long line, and the local authorities had to direct traffic from a distance. It was early morning but the parking lot was almost full.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Thiep, Viet Hoa ward, Hai Phong city, the Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival has always been very crowded every year, but this year, thanks to the effect of the relic being recognized as a world heritage site and information on newspapers and social networks announcing the preparations for this year's festival season with many special activities, including fireworks, this year's festival season will certainly welcome a record number of visitors.

The 2025 Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival will take place from October 1 to October 12 (ie August 10 to August 21 of the lunar calendar) with an upgraded scale of organization.

Many new and attractive cultural-spiritual-tourism activities are organized, creating a vibrant atmosphere, attracting visitors from all over.

This year's festival ceremonies and activities have been upgraded in scale, with standardized rituals worthy of world heritage status.

In particular, at the Kiep Bac Heritage Site, the ceremonial space is extended from the Kiep Bac Temple gate to the Luc Dau River. The art program is staged using live-action techniques, combining performing arts, singing, dancing, music, circus and modern visual arts, grandly recreating the glorious feats of arms and people of the Tran Dynasty, especially of the National Duke and Commander-in-Chief Hung Dao Dai Vuong on the land of Van Kiep.

This year's festival is associated with promoting the global outstanding values of the 5 component relics of the World Heritage in the West of Hai Phong in particular and the typical cultural values of Hai Phong city in general.

A representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong said that, along with the preparation of festival content and rituals, the unit has directed and coordinated with relevant agencies to prepare plans to welcome visitors thoughtfully, regulate traffic, and ensure security and safety for the festival season.

The Con Son-Kiep Bac Relic Management Board has developed a code of civilized conduct, trained forces to welcome tourists; signed a commitment to conduct business and restaurant services at the relic site; advised tourists to limit the burning of votive paper, fight superstition and keep the environment clean and the relic landscape clean and beautiful.../.
