After implementing the two-tier local government model, the Mekong Delta has 6 provincial-level agricultural extension centers; district-level agricultural extension stations and agricultural service centers are reorganized into regional agricultural extension and service stations or centers. At the same time, localities still maintain 1,013 community agricultural extension groups with 10,361 members.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam suggested that the National Agricultural Extension Center continue to promote the role of the Mekong Delta Agricultural Experts Club, as well as community agricultural extension groups.

At the same time, it is necessary to actively pay attention and create mechanisms for the agricultural extension force to operate effectively and promote its positive role in the 1 million hectare high-quality rice project. Urgently review the legal mechanism and advise the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to issue guiding documents to perfect the community agricultural extension force in the two-level local government model.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment requested that provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region proactively plan to build and develop agricultural extension forces suitable to the actual conditions of each locality and each sector to ensure the highest operational efficiency....
