Super Typhoon Ragasa - the strongest storm since early 2025 - is barreling north of the Philippines and heading straight for the southern coast of China, bringing fierce winds and towering waves.

On the X platform, astronaut Yui wrote: "ISS happened to fly over super typhoon Ragasa, sending everyone the latest image. I'm really worried about those on the ground."
The photo clearly shows the giant eye of the storm and the dense vortex, which looks like a violently swirling silver-white tornado, making viewers worried.
Ragasa is currently moving at full strength through the Bashi Channel, between Taiwan and the Batanes Islands of the Philippines.

The US National Hurricane Center classified Ragasa as a category 5 storm, the Japan Meteorological Agency called it a "violent typhoon", and the China Meteorological Center and the Hong Kong Observatory both recognized it as a "super typhoon".
Ragasa, the 18th storm this year and considered the strongest in 2025, has caused tsunamis, widespread power outages in the northern Philippines, and severe landslides that have left at least two people dead and five missing.
The super typhoon continued to weaken as it moved out of the Philippine Weather Forecast Area (PAR) on the morning of September 23. It is forecast that the super typhoon will continue to have a heavy impact on southern China, including Hong Kong.
According to the China Meteorological Administration, Typhoon Ragasa is moving towards the southern coast, expected to make landfall in the coastal area from Shenzhen to Xuwen County, Guangdong Province on September 24, with extremely strong winds.
