The two directors shared about the hot and violent scenes that appeared consecutively in the episodes of "Black Drug".
The movie "shocks" with a series of sensitive scenes
Black Drug is part of the Criminal Police series. The film is directed by Pham Gia Phuong and Tran Trong Khoi - the duo who have been successful with films in the investigative genre such as: Labyrinth, Mirror Mask...
The film got the audience excited when they saw the first trailers. However, after 6 episodes aired, the film caused controversy because it was full of violent scenes, "hot" scenes that "hurt the eyes".
The film opens with the story of Cityboys - a group of rich, debauched, and perverted young men. The Cityboys' orgies at the bar are depicted realistically, with scenes of members using stimulants, dancing passionately to music with beautiful girls wearing hot bikinis.

In addition to the partying scenes, the first episode of the film also shocked the audience with the violent scene between Vuong (Tuan Anh) and Tuyet (Quynh Chau). Because Tien (Truong Hoang) - Tuyet's lover - beat him, Vuong took out his anger on her by kicking, slapping, pushing, and even sexually assaulting her.
Episode 1 ends with the mysterious death of Vuong in a state of multiple signs: strangulation marks, head wound, strange smile due to drug shock.
The following episodes, along with the movie trailer, a series of partying and erotic scenes such as bikini parties, drug use in private rooms... made the audience apprehensive about the nudity of the movie.
On film forums, many viewers commented that the abuse of violent and revealing elements can easily have a negative impact on young people. Viewers said that a VTV film shown in prime time with viewers of all ages, with content containing many hot and violent scenes like that, is inappropriate.

"Reality is much more terrible than in the movies"
Sharing at the press conference to launch the film, director Nguyen Khai Anh, Deputy Director of the Television Film Center, Vietnam Television (VFC) said that after 4 years, the unit has produced a film on the subject of criminal police. Therefore, the film crew had time to polish and invest in the project, from content to images, costumes and setting. The crew spent 2 years to make the film, of which one and a half years were spent writing the script.
Regarding the need to moderate the hot and violent scenes in the film, as well as the issue of age labeling, director Pham Gia Phuong said that the film crew had thought about and weighed many things. He said that if the criminals in the film were gentle, their children would not know that they were criminals. However, because the film was broadcast on national television, he and the crew also understood that appropriate moderation was needed.
Finally, the director decided to discuss with the actors so that everyone could get into character and not have to perform sensitive scenes many times.

"Many previous Criminal Police films were much more edgy and were remembered by audiences forever. Therefore, we tried to make a work that would not be ashamed, because VFC had films that were loved by audiences like that," said director Pham Gia Phuong.
According to co-director Tran Trong Khoi, it is necessary to clearly portray the portrait of a criminal, because the reality in society is much more terrible. The male director believes that the things we are afraid to talk about are 10 times more terrible than what we see in the movie trailer and if the audience finds the movie has too many details, is afraid of violence, and hot scenes, it will be very difficult for Vietnamese movies to reach the world one day.
Director Tran Trong Khoi also hopes that parents will watch Black Pharmacist with their children, because although the film has sensitive scenes, there is always a comparison between family and social issues.
He expressed: "Many types of drugs are not yet called drugs but are harmful to young people. They are very toxic, have great harm but young people only think it brings pleasure. I hope parents will watch this movie with their children to see what the consequences will be if they go in the wrong direction."
Black Medicine revolves around Tuan (played by Huynh Anh) - a smart, brave police officer with a sad past when he witnessed his mother being murdered. The shock caused him to completely lose his memory of his childhood. 20 years after the case, Tuan became the deputy captain of the criminal police team, with Tuyen as the captain.
