Luong Nhu Hoc lantern street (Cho Lon ward, Ho Chi Minh City) is lit up with thousands of lanterns of all shapes, from traditional ones like star lanterns, carp lanterns, jade rabbit lanterns... to modern ones following the trend, glowing in many colors.
The stalls are close together, sellers are always introducing products, buyers are eagerly choosing, creating a bustling atmosphere even though it is still nearly a month until Mid-Autumn Festival.
According to records, the number of visitors to the lantern street increases sharply on weekends, especially from about 7pm to 10pm.
Parents buy their children new lanterns, both for fun and to help them experience the traditional culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Ms. Hang (32 years old, Thu Duc City) said: "My child loves the star lantern and the rabbit lantern the most. Every year I take him here so he can have a true Mid-Autumn Festival experience."

Many groups of young people also choose this place as a meeting place. While doing an assignment with a group of friends about places that tourists should experience when coming to Ho Chi Minh City, Quan Ngoc Kha Nhi (18 years old, student of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted) went to all the stalls on Luong Nhu Hoc Street to film and take pictures of the beautiful lanterns.
Nhi said the group wanted the project to show both the modern and traditional features of Ho Chi Minh City, so after filming structures like Ba Son Bridge, they chose to go to the lantern street.
"This is also the first time I've come to this neighborhood. I'm impressed by the traditional and bustling features here," Nhi said.
At Mr. Nguyen Van Duc’s booth, tourists and locals flocked to visit and take souvenir photos of the scene filled with lanterns as well as his humorous and witty way of doing business. Beautiful lanterns are displayed in a variety of designs, with prices starting from only 20,000 VND.
"I started importing goods at the end of the sixth lunar month. At first, there were relatively few customers. However, business has improved a lot in recent days. On weekend nights, it doesn't rain so there are many customers. Sometimes I can't stop selling," Mr. Duc added.
