Within the framework of activities in the US, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son held talks with UAE leaders and received corporations Amazon, Lockheed Martin, and AES, promoting economic, investment, and technological cooperation with partners.

Within the framework of attending the High-level General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly and bilateral activities in the US, on September 23, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

At the meeting, the two leaders expressed their delight at the positive development of Vietnam-UAE relations in recent times, especially since the two countries established a Comprehensive Partnership and signed the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in October 2024.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his appreciation for the UAE's remarkable development achievements and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening cooperative relations with the UAE, one of the world's leading economic and financial centers.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the UAE side for their careful preparation for the visit of Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh to the UAE from September 23-25 ​​to promote cooperation in developing an international financial center in Vietnam, innovation, digital transformation and data center development.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son asked the UAE to support the launch of FTA negotiations between Vietnam and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and to study investment in building Halal industrial zones in Vietnam.

UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his pleasure to meet Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son again and affirmed that Vietnam is one of the UAE's important trade and investment partners in Southeast Asia.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan shared Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son's opinion that the two countries need to continue to concretize and achieve substantial results in cooperation areas, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, finance, science-technology and tourism, in accordance with the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership and the CEPA Agreement that the two countries' senior leaders have promoted in recent times.

Besides, the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also proposed that the two countries strengthen labor cooperation and train high-quality human resources suitable to the needs of each side.

The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual support at multilateral and international forums.

On the same day, in New York City, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son met with leaders of the US corporations Amazon, Lockheed Martin and AES.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the results of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times, especially in the year marking the 30th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations and the 2nd anniversary of the upgrading of relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the US is one of Vietnam's top important partners, in which US businesses play a core role, contributing to promoting sustainable development relations, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries continue to maintain a positive and stable development momentum; acknowledged that US enterprises continue to maintain and expand their business activities, in addition to traditional fields, increasing investment in many fields, especially high technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), etc., in line with Vietnam's orientation of building an independent, self-reliant and deeply internationally integrated economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State pay attention to and create the most favorable conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises, including US enterprises, to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister made it clear that the two governments will continue to work on the issue of reciprocal taxes, thereby creating a stable business environment for businesses of the two countries.

AES Group Vice President Juan Ignacio Rubiolo informed about the progress of the group's projects in Vietnam, including the Son My LNG port project and the Son My II gas-fired power plant project; affirmed the group's determination and desire to continue receiving support from ministries and branches to successfully implement projects in Vietnam, contributing to the realization of Vietnam's development goals in the coming years.

International President of Lockneed Martin Corporation, Michael E. Williamson, highly appreciated Vietnam's development potential and expressed his desire to promote cooperation in the field of defense trade, in accordance with the needs of both sides.

Amazon's Director of Legal and Global Relations, David Zapolsky, highly appreciated Vietnam's strong development of digital infrastructure and wanted to expand cooperation in Vietnam in the fields of e-commerce, AI applications, satellite technology and cloud computing./.
