Coordinate and advise on solutions to fight crime

Through the work of inspecting detention, temporary detention, and execution of criminal sentences in 2023, the two-level People's Procuracy in Ha Tinh issued 4 protests, 84 recommendations, and 192 requests to remedy violations.

On the afternoon of November 28, the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee worked with the Provincial People's Procuracy to listen to a report on the situation and results of work in 2023.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Van Ky and Head of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee Nguyen Thi Nhuan chaired the meeting. Also attending were representatives of leaders of a number of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

In 2023, the People's Procuracy at two levels exercised the right to prosecute and supervise the investigation of 1,011 cases/1,864 defendants; resolved 728 cases/1,381 defendants out of a total of 743 cases/1,406 defendants accepted, reaching a rate of 98%. Of which, decisions were made to prosecute 727 cases/1,380 defendants; exercised the right to prosecute and supervise the trial of 817 cases/1,636 defendants at first instance and 187 cases/290 defendants at appeal.

Director of the Provincial People's Procuracy Le Thi Quynh Hoa informed some more contents about the results of the industry's activities.

The People's Procuracy at two levels conducted 44 inspections of the implementation of protests and recommendations issued in 2022; 5 surprise direct inspections and 237 periodic direct inspections of detention, temporary detention and execution of criminal sentences in 2023. Through the inspection work, 4 protests, 84 recommendations and 192 requests were issued to remedy violations in detention, temporary detention and execution of criminal sentences.

The work of supervising the settlement of administrative cases, civil cases, marriage and family, business, trade, labor and other matters as prescribed by law has been carried out by the People's Procuracy at two levels with good results; in coordination with the court at the same level, 85 experience-sharing sessions were organized.

Through civil judgment enforcement activities, the People's Procuracy at two levels issued 3 protests, 15 recommendations and 116 requests to remedy violations against the court's delay in transferring legally effective judgments and decisions to civil judgment enforcement agencies.

Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee Nguyen Van Cuong: It is necessary to regularly inspect, supervise, and guide the work of receiving and handling denunciations and reports of crimes, and recommending prosecutions to promptly detect, correct, and overcome shortcomings and deficiencies.

Speaking at the meeting, delegates focused on discussing, analyzing and pointing out a number of shortcomings and limitations in receiving and handling denunciations and crime reports such as: Some units do not compile statistics and reports on denunciations and reports that have not yet had investigation results or have not yet proven crimes.

In addition, some forms and books of statistics on the work of receiving and handling denunciations, reports of crimes, and recommendations for prosecution still have many shortcomings; the process of checking and verifying sources of information about crimes by the two-level police investigation agencies still has some violations; there is no software to manage denunciations, reports of crimes, and recommendations for prosecution for synchronous use nationwide...

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Van Ky and Head of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee Nguyen Thi Nhuan highly appreciated the achievements of the sector. At the same time, they suggested that in the coming time, it is necessary to do well the following issues: continue to strengthen the propaganda, dissemination and education of the law; effectively implement professional measures, minimize errors; coordinate with functional agencies to promptly advise local Party committees and authorities on solutions to strengthen the fight against crimes and law violations.

Regarding the unit's recommendations, the Provincial People's Council Legal Committee receives, synthesizes and transfers them to competent authorities for timely consideration and resolution.
