The delegation inspected areas at high risk of landslides at Hoa Son Cemetery, the residential area of alley 161 Me Suot Street, which is considered the "flood center" of the city during previous storms and floods, and the evacuation area at Da Nang University.
During the inspection, the Da Nang City Military Command and local Party committees and authorities reported on preparations to respond to the complicated developments of storm No. 12, in which the forces proactively reviewed, developed plans, mobilized human resources and materials to be ready to respond when situations arise.
Colonel Phan Dai Nghia, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 5, requested agencies, units and local authorities to strictly implement the "4 on-site" motto (on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means and supplies, on-site logistics), stay close to the base, especially in areas that are frequently flooded; grasp the list of households in need of support, especially families with the elderly and children. The City Military Command needs to closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to organize the evacuation of people to safe places, promptly handle arising situations, and ensure absolute safety for people before, during and after the storm.

Previously, the Military Region 5 Command issued a telegram to agencies and units on proactively responding to storm No. 12. The telegram stated that agencies and units must strictly maintain a 24/7 rescue and disaster prevention regime; promptly grasp the situation, effectively handle situations that arise; ensure smooth communication to serve the command and management of disaster response and search and rescue.
Units regularly inspect, review, adjust and supplement response plans, ensure safety of warehouses, barracks, technical areas, vehicles, combat works and troop activities; fully prepare materials, military medicine, food, provisions and fuel to be ready to respond to all situations.
Military Commands of provinces and cities are requested to direct Border Guards to coordinate with functional agencies to advise local Party committees and authorities to notify and guide ships operating at sea to proactively move, take shelter and anchor safely. Forces regularly monitor developments of storms and heavy rains; inspect and review dams, mines, riverside and stream areas at risk of landslides; proactively implement plans to evacuate people and property from dangerous areas when situations arise.
