Quang Tri considers investing in urban area and ancillary service projects for the Southeast Economic Zone.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Vo Van Hung has just chaired a meeting to consider the proposal to implement the project of the urban area for eco- tourism , resort and auxiliary services in the Southeast Economic Zone (phase 1).

The consulting unit's report said that the Nam Cua Viet New Urban Area project is an urban area and ancillary services for the activities of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone.

The project is proposed to be built in Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province with an area of ​​about 104.3 hectares. With the above area, the new urban area is expected to have about 2,035 adjacent residential plots and 112 villa plots arranged to make the most of the open space for the project after construction.

For the resettlement area, 95 plots of land will be arranged, with an average of 250 m2/plot. The resettlement plots will be divided into suitable areas on the spot, with full functional areas such as health care, culture, schools, sports... for people to stabilize their lives, without too much impact on the lives and culture of local people.

Cua Viet Port Area in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone

The total investment capital of the Nam Cua Viet New Urban Area project is estimated at over 1,742 billion VND. The project's operating period is 50 years.

The project, when completed, will contribute to creating a driving force to attract investment and develop the local socio-economy; directly contributing to the development and growth of the regional economy. At the same time, it will increase revenue for the local budget, create jobs and income for workers.

At the meeting, Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung assigned Trieu Phong District People's Committee to complete the proposal dossier for implementing the project of Urban Area - Eco-tourism, resort and auxiliary services of Southeast Economic Zone. To implement this project, the relevant units were assigned to coordinate with the Management Board of Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone to support Trieu Phong District in completing legal procedures to submit to competent authorities for approval. Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to guide the procedures for land recovery and the list of land recovery.

Regarding resettlement and construction of resettlement areas, Chairman Vo Van Hung assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to study suitable forms and provide specific instructions for implementation; the Economic Zone Management Board shall preside over and coordinate with Trieu Phong district to organize implementation as soon as possible to have a basis for implementing the next contents of this project.

Previously, the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province proposed two options to implement the project of Urban Area - Eco-tourism, resort and auxiliary services of the Southeast Economic Zone (phase 1). Accordingly, option 1 will use the provincial budget to allocate funds for compensation and site clearance, then organize an auction of land use rights.

Option 2, if the provincial budget cannot allocate funds for compensation and site clearance, then organize a bidding for projects using land (investors pay compensation costs and are deducted from land use fees and land rent). For option 1, after completing the infrastructure, if there are no investors participating in the auction for land use rights or the time to select investors is prolonged, investment resources will be wasted.
