Actively implement new regulations on extra teaching and learning

Starting today (February 14), teachers must seriously follow the required content when participating in extra teaching activities.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), said that the school has implemented regulations on extra teaching and learning inside and outside the school. Mr. Phu said that the school requires teachers to study carefully to implement them in accordance with the regulations of the industry. If they are teaching at centers, teachers need to review, if their class has regular students, they should immediately report to the center. At the same time, they need to review and update information about the facility they are teaching to see if it has been licensed to operate by the management. Teachers who are organizing extra teaching at home must follow the principle that they are not allowed to organize management.

Parents pick up their children after extra classes. Starting today (February 14), teachers must strictly follow the mandatory content when participating in extra teaching activities.

At Duong Van Thi High School (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, Principal of the school, said that they have taken steps to review information about teachers who are participating in extra teaching and carry out registration. At the beginning of the year, the school had a regulation strictly prohibiting teachers from giving extra teaching to students who are studying in the regular courses assigned by the school. As for teachers who report that they are giving extra teaching to students outside of class or outside of school, the school has instructed teachers to temporarily stop, and when there is guidance from the management levels, they will follow the procedures to teach according to regulations.

In order to avoid interruptions in students' extra learning, especially for senior students, Ms. LT, a chemistry teacher in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "I have stopped tutoring at home, but 12th grade students are worried that it will take a long time to complete the procedures, so they suggested that I teach them online. Therefore, during the time I stopped teaching in person, I spent time giving online instructions and practicing questions in the format of the high school graduation exam."

According to Ms. LT, the home tutoring facility has submitted a business registration application in accordance with the law and is registered, organized, and managed by a retired teacher. Ms. LT said: "I support the implementation of the correct procedures to continue my legitimate teaching job. Currently, my tutoring class has students from many different schools and does not include the students I am teaching regularly."

Referring to the regulations on teachers' extra teaching based on Circular 29, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed that there is no provision prohibiting teachers from giving extra teaching. When participating in this activity outside of school, teachers must teach at a facility that has registered its business according to the law. Teachers who are teaching at schools and participate in extra teaching outside of school must report to the principal about the subject, location, form, and time of participating in extra teaching.

Mr. Minh also noted that when the tutoring facility's extra classes have regular students, teachers can request the tutoring facility to rearrange the class to avoid teaching their own students. Or request the tutoring facility not to charge for extra classes for the above-mentioned students.
