The first cultural festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people was held in Lai Chau province with the theme “Preserving, promoting and spreading the traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities”. The festival gathered 14 ethnic groups living in 11 provinces: Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai , Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Kon Tum.
Speaking at the opening of the festival, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: The festival is a useful and healthy playground, creating a source of emotions for artisans, actors and athletes who are attached to and passionate about folk arts and traditional sports. The activities within the framework of the festival will create a vivid and colorful picture of the whole cultural life of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people.
The opening art program of the Festival with the theme “Cultural Colors – Convergence and Spread” had the participation of 150 professional actors and 450 extras. The program consisted of 3 chapters: Aspiration to rise with the great forest; Sparkling colors of the great forest and Majestic Lai Chau - Happy festival.
Unique folk songs, dances, and music imbued with the national identity and some famous songs of provinces with ethnic minorities to introduce and promote culture, beliefs, concepts, changes in life, quintessence in music and folk performing arts; quintessential products from the hands of women, mothers, and children in embroidery and weaving villages and men and women in the art of weaving handicrafts...
Through the art forms of folk songs, folk dances, folk music, traditional folk theater, funny scenes... harmoniously and smoothly combining the segments; especially having artists directly participating in the scenes along with commentary creates vitality in the midst of majestic nature, stimulating curiosity of many people and tourists...
Coming to the Festival, locals and tourists will be immersed in the vibrant atmosphere. Everyone can also participate in experiencing many cultural and sports activities rich in identity such as: Mass art festival; traditional ethnic costume performance; traditional handicraft performance; performance, introduction of festival excerpts, traditional cultural rituals; exhibition, introduction, promotion of local traditional culture...
At the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Le Van Luong, Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The festival is a precious opportunity to witness and demonstrate unique cultural characteristics and identities. Along with that, exchange experiences, communicate and learn, to strengthen the great national unity bloc. At the same time, honor and promote the core values of fine traditional culture of 14 ethnic groups from 11 provinces.
