Summary of the emulation cluster of the Forest Protection and Development Fund of the Northwestern provinces

Representatives of the emulation cluster of the Forest Protection and Development Fund of 7 Northwestern provinces signed the emulation agreement.

With 360 entrustment contracts, in 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, the total revenue from forest environmental services (FES) of 7 provinces in the emulation cluster reached 1,570 billion VND, accounting for 41% of the total national revenue. Up to now, the payment of FES in 2023 of 7 provinces in the emulation cluster to forest owners and people has basically been completed with the amount reaching 1,143 billion VND; of which, payment through bank accounts and electronic transactions reached 99.9%. Thereby, contributing to the management and protection of more than 2.3 million hectares of forest, accounting for 31.8% of the total forest area paid nationwide.

In addition, the Forest Protection and Development Fund in the emulation cluster has proactively developed a plan, chaired and coordinated with relevant units to organize the review and identification of forest owners and payment to beneficiaries of forest environmental services, ensuring transparency, correct beneficiaries, and correct amount of forest environmental services; promoted information and propaganda work on the policy of payment for forest environmental services to forest owners in many rich and diverse forms to change the awareness and actions of the community in forest protection, management and development.

Dien Bien Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund handed over the 2024 hosting flag to Yen Bai Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund.

At the conference, delegates of the Forest Protection and Development Funds of the Northwest provinces discussed, raised a number of difficulties and obstacles and shared good practices in localities; at the same time proposed a number of solutions in the coming time to effectively implement the policy of payment for forest environmental services, proposed to regularly launch emulation movements, summarize, evaluate, replicate, and promptly reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the policy; cluster leaders and Funds in the emulation cluster increased the organization of seminars and discussions in person or online so that units have the opportunity to grasp information, share experiences and help each other to successfully complete tasks and effectively implement policies in each locality.

Within the framework of the conference, the Forest Protection and Development Funds of 7 provinces in the emulation cluster participated in signing a commitment to strive to complete the set goals. The Dien Bien Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund awarded the 2024 hosting flag to the Yen Bai Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund.
