After Huawei surprised everyone with the world's first triple-folding smartphone, the Mate XT, last September and continued to launch the upgraded version of the Mate XTs last week, Samsung has officially confirmed that it will soon enter this potential segment.
This move promises to create fierce competition between the two technology giants.
Samsung's mobile chief TM Roh, in an interview with The Chosun Daily , revealed that the company's development of a tri-folding phone is in its final stages and is expected to launch later this year.
Although the interview did not provide details on a specific time, many leaked sources said that Samsung may hold a special event on September 29 to launch this product.

At this event, Samsung is also expected to introduce smart glasses with integrated artificial intelligence Galaxy Glasses, a product that the company has been quietly developing for a long time.
Information about Samsung's tri-fold phone is still quite vague, even the official name is not yet determined. Some reports suggest the name Galaxy G Fold, while recent rumors lean towards Galaxy Z TriFold.
Internal sources said Samsung is developing the One UI 8 interface specially optimized for the triple-fold screen, and the product will be equipped with Qualcomm's highest-end Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, ensuring powerful performance.
Recently, the @TechHighest account on social network X shared a short video , revealing the unique folding mechanism on Samsung's tri-fold screen phone.
Accordingly, the device will have a secondary screen on the outside, allowing it to be used as a regular phone. When expanded, two hinges on both sides will turn the product into a complete tablet.
This folding style is described as resembling opening a book, different from the "Z" folding style of the Huawei Mate XT.

However, these are still just rumors and there have been no actual images of Samsung's tri-fold screen phone leaked, showing that the Korean technology company is keeping product information very secure.
If the leaked information is correct, Samsung will likely send out invitations to its special event in about 10 days, when the tech world will have an official answer about the launch of this promising triple-folding screen phone.
