Weak students will have their living allowance of 3.63 million VND/month cut.

The above content is one of the regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training in the draft Decree amending the policy of supporting tuition fees and living expenses for pedagogical students.

Accordingly, the draft has added new points to the content of the regulation on supporting living expenses based on academic results to motivate pedagogical students and improve quality.

Specifically, pedagogical students are fully supported by the State with tuition fees. In addition, the State provides an additional 3.63 million VND/month to cover living expenses during their time studying at the school.

From the second year and the following years, pedagogical students with a poor GPA or poor training score will not be considered for support to cover living expenses. The Ministry of Education and Training requires pedagogical training institutions to consider supporting living expenses for students for each academic year.

In addition, the Ministry also revised the regulations on reimbursement of support funds. Accordingly, schools are responsible for guiding, monitoring and issuing notices of reimbursement of funds to pedagogical students who change majors, take a leave of absence or drop out of school.

The Provincial People's Committee guides, monitors, and issues notices of reimbursement of expenses for pedagogical students residing in the locality who have received the main scholarship and have not worked in the education sector for 2 years from the date of the graduation recognition decision.

For student teachers who place orders, the ordering agencies are responsible for recovering the support funds or the families are responsible for fully paying the amount previously received according to regulations.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the above proposed amendments and supplements aim to ensure feasibility in fully recovering funds to support tuition and living expenses for pedagogical students who do not work in the education sector in accordance with regulations.

Decree 116 of the Government regulating the policy of supporting tuition and living expenses for pedagogical students takes effect for the enrollment period from 2021. Accordingly, pedagogical students who commit to working in the education sector will also enjoy the policy of supporting tuition and living expenses.
In addition to the tuition fee support equal to the fee charged by the training institution where they study, students are also supported by the state with 3.63 million VND/month to cover living expenses during their time studying at the school. The period of tuition fee and living expense support is calculated based on the actual number of months of study at the school according to regulations, but not exceeding 10 months/school year.
