The number of injured in the Gaza Strip has also exceeded 40,000 people, of which 70% are children and women.

A representative of the health authority in Gaza also said that the Israeli attacks had killed 280 medical staff, and 56 ambulances had also been targeted. The agency accused Israel of deliberately destroying the health care system in Gaza.

Since Friday alone, since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas ended, at least 193 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks.

On December 2, the southern Gaza area including Khan Younis and Rafah was subjected to attacks including airstrikes and artillery shelling by Israel.

Mr. Martin Griffiths, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, warned that people in the Gaza Strip are extremely frightened and have nowhere safe to go.

The situation in Khan Younis, the largest city in southern Gaza, where the IDF dropped leaflets urging residents to evacuate immediately because it was a “combat zone,” is dire, Griffiths said. The official called on Israel and Hamas to restore a humanitarian truce to facilitate the delivery of aid and protect civilians and “infrastructure essential to life” in Gaza.

Earlier, the head of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) expressed "extreme concern" that no humanitarian aid shipments, including fuel, were allowed into the Gaza Strip on December 1.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) confirmed that Israel has blocked aid from entering Gaza through the Rafah crossing “until further notice.” PRCS noted that the move has “exacerbated the suffering of residents in the area and increased the challenges for humanitarian and relief organizations.”
