Pioneer in propaganda work
Vinh Chau ( Soc Trang province) is a coastal town with a large ethnic minority population of more than 70%, of which more than 53% are Khmer. Since the district implemented the National Target Program 1719, the appearance and life of Vinh Chau people in general and Khmer people in particular have changed positively, especially the rate of poor households has decreased rapidly. Specifically, by the end of 2023, Vinh Chau had 1,147 households escaping poverty and 1,392 households escaping near-poverty; there were 1,618 poor households (accounting for 3.82%) and 4,950 near-poor households (accounting for 11.70%).
Having the opportunity to return to the coastal border area today, you will be able to travel on clean asphalt and concrete roads connecting the villages; you will see new, spacious houses close together; or encounter the radiant faces of farmers thanks to the high prices of their harvested products...; all thanks to the timely support from the Party and State's special mechanisms and policies, in which the National Target Program 1719 has made a clear mark in the lives of ethnic minorities here.
When the National Target Program 1719 was implemented, as a prestigious person, Mr. Thach Vuol, residing in Lai Hoa A hamlet, Vinh Chau town, proposed to his superiors to support suitable plant and animal varieties to help poor families develop production.
Along with that, Mr. Vuol also encouraged households to enthusiastically produce to improve their lives. Thanks to that, many Khmer households in the hamlet have actively produced and worked effectively to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.
Or like Mr. Tang Duyen, a prestigious person among the Khmer people in Ca Lac hamlet (Lac Hoa commune, Vinh Chau town) was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee at the Program to commend and honor advanced models, as a prestigious person among ethnic minorities nationwide in 2023 for actively participating in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies to the people; especially the policies and guidelines directly related to ethnic minorities.
In particular, Mr. Tang Duyen is also a very active propagandist about the National Target Program 1719; together with the locality, he successfully completed the tasks, especially in building new rural areas, uniting the people to protect the security and order situation in the locality.
Mr. Tran Tri Van, Vice Chairman of Vinh Chau Town People's Committee, said that thanks to the active propaganda and mobilization of the people by prestigious people, the locality has implemented projects and sub-projects under the National Target Program 1719 more smoothly.
“In the coming time, together with prestigious people, the locality will focus on promoting propaganda work on the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State, especially policies that have a direct impact on the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities. Thereby, contributing to the effective implementation of projects and sub-projects of the National Target Program 1719”, Mr. Van emphasized.
Continue to promote the role of prestigious people
According to statistics from the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Soc Trang province, the locality currently has 338 prestigious people among ethnic minorities. Of which, in 3 coastal border districts and towns including Vinh Chau, Tran De, and Cu Lao Dung, there are 111 prestigious people.
Mr. Lam Hoang Mau, Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Soc Trang, assessed that with their roles and responsibilities, Prestigious People are truly a bridge between the branches, local authorities and the people, a place to express the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of ethnic minorities to the Party and the State. In particular, Prestigious People in the ethnic minority areas of the province have made an important contribution to helping the National Target Program 1719 come into life.
In recent times, policies for the prestigious people have always been of interest. Prestigious people are visited by the government when they are sick; given gifts on traditional holidays and Tet holidays...; Implementing Sub-project 1 of Project 10 under the National Target Program 1719, the province has periodically commended and honored advanced models, promoting the role of Prestigious People.
In addition, the province has also organized many conferences to provide information on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; including many training sessions to foster knowledge on ethnic policies and ethnic affairs; projects and policies under the National Target Program 1719; and continued to distribute free of charge a number of newspapers, publications and magazines to help the team gain more knowledge and information.
According to Mr. Lam Hoang Mau, the good implementation of policies and regimes has promptly encouraged, motivated, and created conditions for prestigious people to promote their roles and voices, making more practical contributions to patriotic emulation movements, socio -economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, building cultural life, contributing to consolidating trust and strengthening the great national unity bloc.
