Vingroup shares have increased by hundreds of percent since the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in April this year when billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong answered the question of shareholders choosing VIC or gold - Photo: VIC
Right from the first minutes of the trading session, red covered the entire electronic board when the supply force overwhelmed, pulling the VN-Index down rapidly below the 1,600 point threshold.
This correction was not limited to a few individual industry groups but spread across the HoSE floor, with 261 codes in red, while only 74 codes maintained green.
However, towards the end of the afternoon session, the market gradually showed signs of improvement. Demand was reactivated, notably in large-cap stocks belonging to the Vingroup ecosystem, which played an important supporting role, helping the VN-Index significantly narrow the decline.
The strong recovery from this group not only contributed to erasing the deeper decline of more than 36 points in the morning but also created momentum to pull the general index up nearly 15 points at the end of the session, meaning a recovery of nearly 50 points compared to the bottom of the day.
Specifically, Vingroup's VIC stock has officially set a new peak price at 136,000 VND/share, an increase of nearly 4% compared to the reference price and an increase of nearly 150% since April.
This strong increase has raised the group's total capitalization to nearly VND527,500 billion - maintaining its position as the largest private enterprise on the Vietnamese stock exchange.
The rise of VIC shares has also significantly increased the personal assets of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong - Chairman of Vingroup Corporation.
According to statistics from Forbes, his assets have now exceeded 13.6 billion USD, increasing by about 543 million USD in just 24 hours.
With this fortune, Mr. Vuong is holding the 200th position in the list of the richest people on the planet and continues to be the richest person in Vietnam.
Notably, today's price increase also marks a series of three consecutive breakout sessions of VIC stock, is it "related" to Vingroup's announcement of suing 68 domestic and foreign organizations and individuals for spreading false information that affects the group?
In just three days, Vingroup's capitalization increased by nearly VND43,000 billion, reflecting investors' confidence in the group's prospects in the coming period.
