On the morning of October 22, the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa organized a training conference to guide the work of maintaining and improving the quality of food business market criteria for trainees who are members of the Market Management Board and the Food Safety Supervision Team (FSS) at markets in the following localities: Thanh Hoa City, Sam Son City, Bim Son Town and the districts of Dong Son, Hoang Hoa, Hau Loc, Quang Xuong, Nga Son, and Ha Trung.
Overview of the Conference.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phung Dinh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa province, said that in recent years, food hygiene and safety has been a challenge for the whole society. For immediate profits, many production and processing establishments have put toxic products on the market, seriously affecting the health and lives of people, causing public outrage and reducing consumer confidence.
Realizing that the risk of food safety and hygiene not only comes from the production and processing stages but also from the preservation stage, especially in the process of exchanging and buying and selling goods at markets and food businesses, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Plan No. 58/KH-UBND dated March 10, 2022 on building food markets that meet food safety regulations in the province, period 2022-2025, specifying the roadmap for building food businesses each year for districts, towns and cities.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Phung Dinh Anh delivered the opening speech at the Conference.
In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to arrange working delegations to work in 27/27 districts, towns and cities; directly survey the actual situation at markets in the province to inspect and guide the maintenance and construction of food markets and safe food stores; urge, guide and remove difficulties and obstacles of each locality in the process of maintaining and constructing food markets.
Through the application of standards specified in TCVN 11856:2017 or criteria in Decision No. 08/2020/QD-UBND dated February 19, 2020 of the Provincial People's Committee, facilities and infrastructure at most markets in Thanh Hoa province have received investment, construction and renovation; equipment serving food business activities at the market is equipped in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality, meeting food safety requirements; small traders doing business at the market are propagandized and have awareness and consciousness about implementing food safety regulations, origin of goods in business at the market, the responsibility of the Market Management Board and Food Safety Supervision Team at the market is improved.
With the determination of the Department of Industry and Trade, the participation of all levels and sectors, up to now, in the province, there are 370/389 markets that meet the standards of food trading markets, reaching 95%. Of which, 253 markets have been announced to meet the standards according to TCVN 11856:2017 and 116 markets have been recognized by the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade as food trading markets according to the criteria of temporary markets in Decision No. 08/2020/QD-UBND dated February 19, 2020 of the Provincial People's Committee on regulations on procedures, procedures, and records for recognition of food trading markets for temporary markets in Thanh Hoa province, becoming the province with the highest number of markets announced to meet the standards of food trading markets in the country.
To effectively maintain the criteria after being recognized as a food trading market, contributing to improving the results of building a food trading market, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to organize training conferences, instructing on maintaining and improving the quality of food trading market criteria in Trieu Son and Ngoc Lac districts in the coming time.
