On September 19, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Theoretical Council opened a training conference with the theme "Content and methods of leadership and management of culture and arts over 40 years of renovation: Situation, lessons and development orientation" in the Southern region.
The conference aims to provide an overview of Vietnamese literature and art in 40 years of renovation; to raise awareness and professional skills for leaders and managers in the fields of culture, arts, journalism and publishing.
At the same time, create conditions for those working in literary and art theory and criticism to access new theoretical and practical trends.
This is also an opportunity for delegates and students to share experiences, contributing to improving the quality of leadership and management of culture and arts in the period of integration and development, entering the era of national growth.
The training conference took place from September 19-22 with 6 topics: Vietnamese literature and art after 40 years of innovation and development orientation in the new era; Innovation in leadership and management thinking of literature and art in the era of integration and technology.
Innovation of literary and artistic institutions and development strategies, training and fostering of theorists and critics; Vietnamese fine arts from the renovation period to the present (1986–2025); Ho Chi Minh's image in Vietnamese literature from 1975 to the present; Vietnamese traditional theater – opportunities and challenges.
The topics were presented by prestigious lecturers and researchers, including: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky - Vice Chairman of the Central Council of Theory; Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son - Full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education ; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dang Diep - Chairman of the Council of Theory and Criticism of the Vietnam Writers' Association;
Researcher Phan Cam Thuong - Chairman of the Council of Theory and Criticism of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association; Major General, PhD, Writer Nguyen Hong Thai - former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Police History Research; PhD, People's Artist Trieu Trung Kien - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Traditional Theatre
In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Doctor, Writer Nguyen The Ky said that the conference was organized following the training program in the Northern region that took place in early September in Hanoi .
He emphasized that after 40 years of renovation, Vietnamese literature and art have accompanied the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, achieving many important achievements but also revealing limitations that need to be overcome.
Summarizing the 40-year journey has practical significance in determining development orientation, preparing to enter a new phase with higher requirements, speed and quality.
According to the program, in addition to the thematic report, the conference also provides time for trainees to write their own reports, connecting them to their fields, localities, and work agencies. This is considered an important activity, helping trainees to systematize their knowledge, propose specific solutions, and at the same time serve as a basis for evaluating the results of their training participation.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky also noted that the leadership and management of culture and arts is a particularly important field, requiring sophistication and scientific nature. He affirmed that this conference not only discussed theory, but also emphasized practicality, aiming to find solutions to improve management efficiency and promote the role of literature and arts in social life.
The Southern region training conference is one of the important activities in the series of events summarizing 40 years of innovation in Vietnamese literature and arts, and at the same time opens a forum for cultural and artistic staff to exchange, dialogue and propose development solutions in the new context.
