Focus on harvesting spring rice crop

Up to this point, the spring rice area has been harvested at 10,150 hectares, with an average yield of 55 quintals/hectare. This is a spring crop that is evaluated by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ninh as a success in both productivity and output.

This year, the spring rice area of ​​Binh Duong ward, Dong Trieu city is 480 hectares and is mainly late spring tea because farmers in the area only sow and plant after harvesting Atlantic potatoes. At this time, the rice has begun to ripen. Farmers in the area are mobilizing machinery and human resources to focus on harvesting to take advantage of the sunny weather to dry the rice immediately after harvesting. Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Binh Duong ward happily shared: It is true that compared to previous years, this year's rice has less pests and diseases. Currently, my family has only harvested 30% of the area, the remaining area will not be harvested until June 29.

Compared to the same period in previous years, this year's spring crop had unfavorable weather conditions at the beginning of the crop due to prolonged cold, slowing down the growth of rice plants by 10-15 days. However, thanks to technical solutions implemented by farmers and units, the spring rice area in the whole province has basically achieved good results.

Mr. Vu Van Tam, General Director of Quang Ninh Seed Joint Stock Company, said: The 2025 spring crop had unfavorable weather. At the beginning of the year, the weather was cloudy and cold for a long time, so the growth period of spring rice was slowed down. However, the rice plants accumulated more energy. With our company mainly doing seeds, the yield compared to the same period last year was also 7-10% higher.

This year's spring rice is firm, plump and high yielding.

This year, the whole province planted more than 14,500 hectares of spring rice. Up to this point, more than 10,150 hectares have been harvested, reaching 70% of the spring crop area. Of which, the rice area in the western region of the province has a higher yield of about 7-10% compared to the same period last year, estimated at over 6 tons/ha. For the eastern region, farmers in Hai Ha, Dam Ha, Tien Yen, and Ba Che districts have begun to harvest some mid-spring rice. According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ninh province, this year's spring crop is considered a success in terms of productivity and output.

Mr. Pham Duy Duan, Head of Technical Department, Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Quang Ninh, said: This year, the average spring rice yield in the whole province reached over 55 quintals/ha. Farmers in the province are currently harvesting and are expected to finish harvesting by early July.

Opposite to   In some localities in the province, farmers have sown rice on about 100 hectares and are expected to plant the latest winter-spring rice crop after July 20.

Up to this point, the spring rice area harvested in the whole province has reached 10,150 hectares.

This year, the Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment has set a target of approximately 80,400 tons of total spring rice output. Along with focusing on urgently harvesting the spring crop, the department also requested specialized agencies to promptly guide farmers in sowing seedlings, ensuring that the total cultivated area in the province reaches over 21,700 hectares.
