Ship 20, a Pohang-class anti-submarine patrol ship, was received by the Vietnam People's Navy from the Republic of Korea Navy in October 2018.

Ship 20 and the Vietnam People's Navy delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Quoc Quang, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 3, are on their way to Langkawi Island, Malaysia to participate in activities within the framework of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA 2023) such as displaying naval ships, exhibition introducing career opportunities in the Malaysian Navy, reviewing ships, and LIMA Sea Exercise.

Long sea voyages are an opportunity for officers and soldiers on Ship 20, Brigade 172, Naval Region 3 to practice training content in different conditions and situations at sea.

Major Dau Thanh Hao, Captain of Ship 20, said that the combined training contents in this long sea voyage include: Air-to-air and sea-to-sea combat layouts; ship survival protection; rescue of victims; anti-piracy. The training sessions are aimed at ensuring closeness to actual combat; testing the qualifications of sailors after training at the port while also training to improve the health of soldiers. In addition, the training sessions also help improve the capacity of organizing and coordinating command, combat readiness, and the level of mastering weapons and equipment in conditions of long-term operations at sea.

After being received by the Vietnam People's Navy, Ship 20 was modernized with some equipment to further improve the ship's technical features as well as the ability to exploit and use weapons and equipment.

Ship 20's main weapon system includes: 2 Oto Melara 76mm cannons; 2 Oto Breda 40mm cannons; 6 MK32 torpedo launchers; 2 MK9 depth charge launchers; MK33 jamming system.

We would like to introduce to readers some photos of the activities of officers and soldiers of Ship 20 and the working group on the voyage to Langkawi:
