On August 2, the Dragon spacecraft of space exploration company SpaceX carrying four international astronauts successfully docked with the orbiting International Space Station (ISS).

In a statement posted on social media, SpaceX wrote “Connection confirmed,” along with a video showing the spacecraft approaching the ISS at 2:27 a.m. Eastern time on August 2 (1:27 p.m. the same day Vietnam time).

On board the 11th commercial flight under the NASA Commercial Crew Program are two Americans, Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui and cosmonaut Oleg Platonov of the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos).

During their stay of at least six months on the ISS, the astronauts will participate in many important experiments such as simulating the landing process at a location near the Moon's South Pole under the US-led Artemis program; testing how changes in gravity affect astronauts' ability to control the spacecraft; testing vision protection; studying the genetic changes of bacteria in the space environment; producing large quantities of stem cells and creating nutrients on demand.

Previously, the Dragon spacecraft was carried into space by a Falcon 9 rocket from the launch pad of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:43 a.m. on August 1, Eastern time (10:43 p.m. the same day in Vietnam)./.
