Lap Lo Festival - a unique cultural feature of the Chut ethnic group

(Baohatinh.vn) - Tet Lap Lo is an occasion for the Chut ethnic group (Rao Tre village, Phuc Trach commune, Ha Tinh) to thank heaven and earth, pray for favorable weather, bountiful crops, family health, prosperity and development.

The Lap Lo Festival of the Chut ethnic group is held on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month.

On the morning of August 29, the Border Guard Command of Ha Tinh province and the People's Committee of Phuc Trach commune organized the program "Happy Tet Lap Lo" with the Chut ethnic people (Rao Tre village, Phuc Trach commune). Also attending the program were representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches, local leaders and philanthropists.

The Chut ethnic group in Rao Tre village has 46 households and 161 people, and is a group of the Ma Lieng ethnic group. The Lap Lo festival is held by the people on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month every year with the meaning of "plugging holes and sowing seeds", signaling the completion of sowing and cultivating in the fields.

On this occasion, the Chut people organize a festival to celebrate, give thanks to heaven and earth, pray for favorable weather, bountiful crops, family health, prosperity and development.

The program contributes to preserving, transmitting, disseminating and promoting to future generations good customs, practices, folk culture and traditional rituals of the people.

Tet Lap Lo is a big festival of the local people.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Trach Commune, Phan Quoc Thanh, hoped that all levels, sectors, units and localities would continue to pay more attention to the people, improve their lives, preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of the Chut ethnic group to become a typical cultural tourism product, contributing to promoting the local socio -economic development.

At the festival, the Chut people erect a ceremonial pole and four poles symbolizing the four directions: East - West - South - North. The pole and pole are spiritual symbols of the village, a place for the gods to reside and enjoy the offerings.

The offerings will be solemnly brought to the altar to invite the river god, mountain god, forest ghost and the souls of the deceased to attend the ceremony and enjoy the offerings.

After the ceremony, the villagers organized folk games such as tug of war, stick pushing... bringing a joyful and exciting atmosphere to the festival.

Also at the program, the Provincial Border Guard Command and Ban Giang Border Guard Station presented 46 gifts to households, with a total value of 23 million VND.

Philanthropists donated 2.5 tons of rice and many necessities to the villagers, and organized a meal for them to celebrate Tet with a total resource of over 40 million VND.

Over the past years, the Party, the State, all levels and sectors from the province to the commune, especially the coordination of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front , the commune-level unions, the Ban Giang Border Guard Station, and directly the Rao Tre Village Working Group have always paid attention to and taken care of the people's lives; many policies and guidelines have reached the villagers, helping them have a stable life, creating a new step of development.

Up to now, the villagers have basically had solid houses, gradually learned how to produce agriculture; 100% of households have access to grid electricity, have enough clean water to use, are aware of the consequences of incestuous marriage; children of school age are able to attend school fully and at each level. National defense and border security work is guaranteed.
