Thanh Hoa: Allow students to continue to stay home from school if necessary

Storm No. 10 made landfall in Thanh Hoa province, causing serious consequences in all areas. To ensure the safety of students and teachers, on September 29, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa signed and issued Official Dispatch No. 3632/SGD DT-VP on focusing on responding to and overcoming the consequences of Storm No. 10 and the floods after the storm.

Accordingly, educational establishments continue to monitor the storm's developments and post-storm circulation, and report to the People's Committees of communes, wards and the Department of Education and Training to let students take a day off on Tuesday, September 30 (if deemed necessary).

The Director of the Department of Education and Training requested that the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards in the province, and heads of affiliated units strictly implement the contents of the telegrams on focusing on responding to storm No. 10 and floods, landslides, flash floods, etc.

Educational facilities are ready to receive people to take shelter from storm No. 10 and floods, landslides, flash floods in schools when safety is ensured. Along with that, they must promptly repair damage; clean and sanitize schools/classrooms immediately after storms to ensure safety, cleanliness, and disease prevention.

Units promptly update information, summarize damages (if any), report to the People's Committees of communes, wards and the Standing Office of the Department of Education and Training's Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control via Zalo groups according to the responsible block to promptly summarize and report according to regulations.

Due to the impact of storm No. 10, from the afternoon of September 28 to noon of September 29, Thanh Hoa province experienced heavy rain and strong winds, causing flooding and isolation in many places, causing damage to people's houses and crops.

To overcome the consequences of storm No. 10 and respond to floods and landslides caused by heavy rain after the storm, Thanh Hoa province has proactively deployed plans from the first days and hours.

By the morning of September 29, the entire province had evacuated 4,473 households with over 17,000 people living in waterfront areas, low-lying areas, and areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides, and landslides to safe places.
