This is also the 7th time going abroad in the career of Thanh Thuy, who has always been considered the locomotive throughout the explosion of Vietnamese women's volleyball in recent times.
She signed with Gunma Green Wings before the 2025 World Championships, which ended last week. And right after the World Championships, Thanh Thuy flew to Japan to join up with her new club.
Gunma Green Wings played a friendly match against Victoriana Himeji to prepare for the new season. They lost 1-2 in the end.
However, Thanh Thuy was the winner of this match, because she was only used in the second game - which was also the game that Gunma Green Wings won. It is known that Thanh Thuy scored 8 points in this game.
Gunma Green Wings used Indonesian player Olivia Rozanski in the first game, before replacing her with Thanh Thuy in the second game. In the third game, they used all local players.
This impressive performance means a lot to Thanh Thuy, promising to bring her an official competition spot in the new season.
Gunma Green Wings is a SV.League team from Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. They were promoted to the top division of Japan in 2023.
This is the 7th foreign club Thanh Thuy has played for in her career. In 2015, the girl from Binh Duong went abroad for the first time, playing for Bangkok Glass of Thailand.
Next, she continued to play for Attack Line VC (Taiwan), Denso Airybees (Japan), PFU BlueCats (Japan), Kuzeyboru (Türkiye), then Gresik (Indonesia).
In her 7th time abroad, Thanh Thuy's performance was considered not to be of high quality. She played quite well in the first 2 matches at the World Championship (against Poland and Germany), but then faded against Kenya in the final match.
At the age of 28, Thanh Thuy's time to shine is running out. Therefore, fans are hoping that the "golden girl" of Vietnamese volleyball can shine once again in a foreign land.
