More banks bring interest rates below 6%/year

According to the latest online deposit interest rate schedule, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (BVBank) reduced 0.2 percentage points for 6-8 month terms.

Bank interest rates for 6-month term decreased to 5.55%/year, 7-month term to 5.6%/year, and 8-month term to 5.65%/year.

Meanwhile, bank interest rates for 9-12 month terms decreased by 0.3 percentage points. 9-month term is now 5.65%/year, 10-month term is now 5.7%/year, 11- and 12-month terms are now 5.75%/year.

Interest rates on 18-24 month term deposits were adjusted down by another 0.25 percentage points to 5.9%/year.

Thus, interest rates for deposits with terms of 12 months or more at BVBank have all dropped below 6%/year since today.

BVBank keeps the interest rate for 1-5 month term deposits unchanged. The interest rate for 1 month term is 4.4%/year, 2 month term is 4.6%/year, 3-4 month term is 4.7%/year and 5 month term is 4.75%/year.

BVBank is also the only bank that adjusted its deposit interest rates down on the first day of the week.

According to statistics from the beginning of October, 25 banks have reduced deposit interest rates, including: BVBank, PVCombank, VIB, Sacombank, VietBank, SCB, VPBank,SHB , BIDV, VietinBank, HDBank, BaoViet Bank, Techcombank, SeABank, Viet A Bank, PG Bank, Dong A Bank, Vietcombank, LPBank, Nam A Bank, CBBank, ACB, Bac A Bank, and NCB.

Of which, CBBank, VIB, Vietcombank, SHB, Dong A Bank, PG Bank, Nam A Bank, HDBank , LPBank, Viet A Bank are the banks that reduced interest rates twice this month. VietBank and Bac A Bank reduced interest rates for the third time this month. On the contrary, there was a bank that increased deposit interest rates, GPBank, on October 4.
