Latest information on 10th grade entrance exam for specialized schools in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025

Speaking to VietNamNet, Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal of the Gifted High School, said that in 2025 the school will still organize its own 10th grade entrance exam. The school is currently drafting a plan to seek approval from superiors, but it is expected that the school's 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 will not have many changes compared to last year.

It is expected that students taking the entrance exam for grade 10 of the Gifted High School will still take 4 exams, including 3 non-specialized subjects: Math, Literature, English and an optional specialized subject exam from the following subjects: Math, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.

“For non-specialized subjects, candidates need to pay attention to the innovations in the 2018 program,” said Dr. Tran Nam Dung.

At the District 5 campus, the school still recruits 7 specialized classes: Math, IT, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, and English. The Thu Duc campus (at the Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area) recruits students into 10 specialized classes oriented towards interdisciplinary fields (LN): Math-LN, IT-LN, Physics-LN, Chemistry-LN, Biology-LN, English-LN and Literature-LN.

Regarding the exam time, it is expected to remain unchanged, non-major subjects are 120 minutes, major subjects are 150 minutes. Exam details will be announced by the school later.

The Gifted High School is the only school that currently organizes the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City. All students nationwide are eligible to take the exam and be admitted when they meet the following conditions: The age of students entering 10th grade is 15 years old. For students who are allowed to skip a grade in junior high school or students entering junior high school at an older age than the prescribed age, the age for entering 10th grade will be reduced or increased based on the age of the junior high school graduation year. Conduct and academic performance for the entire school year of junior high school classes are ranked from good and above. Graduation from junior high school is ranked from good and above.

Regarding tuition, the campus in District 5 is 1,495,000 VND/month. The Thu Duc campus (boarding) is 2,650,000 VND/month.

Ho Chi Minh City fails to recruit more than 800 public grade 10 students

It is necessary to recruit 2,203 additional 10th graders from public schools, but Ho Chi Minh City can only recruit 1,400 students, reaching a rate of 63.54%.
