Promoting economic cooperation between Vietnam and Zimbabwe

On September 5, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang received Ms. Constance Chemwayi, Zimbabwean Ambassador to Malaysia and concurrently Vietnam, and Mr. Eleshkumar Patel, Special Investment Advisor to the President of Zimbabwe, who came to greet them on the occasion of attending the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang expressed his joy at Zimbabwe's recent developments and congratulated Zimbabwe on successfully assuming the rotating role of Chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for the 2024-2025 term. The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam consistently implements a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of international relations, and attaches importance to developing relations with African countries, including Zimbabwe.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang highly appreciated the appointment of a Special Investment Advisor in Vietnam by the President of Zimbabwe, demonstrating the African country's determination to develop its economy in the coming time as well as Zimbabwe's respect for Vietnam.

Ambassador Constance Chemwayi congratulated Vietnam on the successful organization of the 80th National Day Celebration on September 2, thanked the diplomatic delegations for their warm welcome, and expressed her strong impression of the Vietnamese people's spirit of national self-reliance and patriotism. Ms. Constance Chemwayi affirmed that Zimbabwe has a traditional friendship with Vietnam, always appreciates Vietnam's support, and hopes that the two countries will continue to cooperate closely to maintain good political relations, strengthen economic and investment cooperation, and support each other in international forums.

Special Investment Advisor to the President of Zimbabwe in Vietnam Eleshkumar Patel said that being appointed by the President of Zimbabwe to the position of investment advisor is a great honor, demonstrating the President's vision in enhancing trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam. In the coming time, Zimbabwe wishes to promote economic cooperation with Vietnam in a number of key areas such as agriculture, tourism, mining and textiles.

Expressing her gratitude for the good sentiments that the Ambassador and Special Investment Advisor to the President of Zimbabwe has shown to Vietnam, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said that the Vietnamese Government is giving high priority to accessing new markets such as the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The Vietnamese Government will further promote cooperation with these regions and Zimbabwe, especially high-level delegation exchanges, sharing development experiences and seeking trade and investment cooperation opportunities.

On that basis, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to support and act as a bridge for Zimbabwe to contact and connect with Vietnamese agencies, localities and enterprises, promoting the good political relationship into substantive economic cooperation results, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
