With many practical methods, in recent times, the Department of Industry and Trade has effectively implemented the task of "Supporting the construction of a two-way trade model to promote the consumption of products from ethnic minority and mountainous areas and supplying essential goods to localities", thereby contributing to strengthening and consolidating the system of products produced by ethnic minorities and expanding the distribution system of essential consumer goods in the province.

Implementing Decision No. 216/QD-BCT dated February 10, 2023 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2023 period, the Department of Industry and Trade has been proactive in implementing the task of "Supporting the construction of a two-way trade model to promote the consumption of products in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and supplying essential goods for the locality". Accordingly, in November 2023, the Department of Industry and Trade organized the announcement of a two-way trade model to promote the consumption of products in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province at Hung Anh Agricultural Service Cooperative, Krong Klang town, Dakrong district.
Talking to us, Director of Hung Anh Agricultural Service Cooperative Nguyen Van Hung said: “With the support of the functional sector, we have built a two-way trade model to support the consumption of products from ethnic minority and mountainous areas with quality products that are little known. At the same time, we are responsible for supplying essential goods to the locality to serve the production and consumption of ethnic minority people, ensuring social security goals. In practice, the support of the Department of Industry and Trade is very meaningful to us, contributing significantly to helping the Cooperative in distributing goods, connecting supply and demand with the market. Thereby, promoting the consumption of agricultural products of local people more conveniently”.
Agricultural products produced by ethnic minorities in the province are quite abundant, however, the access to consumer markets of production facilities in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is still limited. Therefore, finding outlets for products of production facilities here is extremely necessary.
To promote the consumption of products from ethnic minority and mountainous areas, recently, trade promotion activities in the province have received increasing attention.
Thereby helping businesses, cooperatives, and business households introduce and promote products, seek and expand markets for goods, and develop a number of product distribution channel systems.
Thanks to that, ethnic minority products are being consumed through many diverse distribution channels such as supermarkets, large shopping centers, branded stores and traditional channels. Building a two-way trade model will promote the consumption of products from ethnic minority and mountainous areas. This will create conditions to bring essential goods, especially regional specialties, to consumers, contributing to improving the lives of local people.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Huu Hung said: “The two-way trade model has helped improve knowledge and skills for businesses, cooperatives, production and business households in the province in distributing goods, building brands, and connecting supply and demand.
At the same time, support units and enterprises to maintain and expand distribution networks and product consumption markets; directly introduce, promote and sell products to consumers in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, serving the production and consumption needs of the people.
Create opportunities to promote the image of products, goods and services of enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments in the province. Call and connect to attract enterprises to participate in investing in the production of agricultural products of the province that meet food safety standards, VietGAP standards to increase product value; attract enterprises to consume products, find stable consumption markets for products".
Based on the achieved results, in 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to implement the plan to support the construction of a two-way trade model - supplying essential goods and promoting the consumption of products in ethnic minority and mountainous areas with participating entities being enterprises, establishments, cooperatives, and cooperatives producing specialty and typical products of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province. Along with that are retailers including the supermarket systems Co.opmart, BigC, VinMart; 8S stores of Quang Tri Trading Corporation; food retail store systems inside and outside the province...
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung added: “To implement the plan, we will organize surveys and product selection; evaluate products in terms of standards, quality, food safety, product design, trademark registration, barcodes, raw material areas, and product development trends. At the same time, we will survey and evaluate the scale of production capacity and product supply capacity of the facility for selected products. At the same time, we will support businesses, cooperatives, cooperative groups, and individual business households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to perfect their products, conduct tests to evaluate quality standards, food safety standards, and traceability of products. Support consulting on design, printing of designs, packaging, brands, and labels to meet the requirements of supermarket systems and clean food retail chains. Connect and bring products into retail chains and two-way trade models such as support 4-6 products that meet quality standards, food safety standards, traceability, design, packaging, and product labels to connect to the supermarket system, modern retail chains, and two-way trade models. Support the development of 2-3 two-way trade models - supplying essential goods and promoting the consumption of products in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
