Many sources also confirmed that Mr. Luu Tu Bao, President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation, who holds dual American and Vietnamese citizenship, is even involved in some judicial troubles in the US.
Many people in the boxing world have been passing around a news story published in the US since late June, which mentioned that Mr. Bao was involved in an international criminal group and was being extradited by the authorities of a country.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao is the CEO of Saigon Sports Club (SSC) - one of the leading martial arts clubs in Ho Chi Minh City for over 10 years.
He was elected as the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMMAF) for the 2022-2027 term and in October 2023, he was elected as the President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) for the 2023-2028 term.
In February 2025, Liu Xiubao went to the US to attend the funeral of a relative and planned to stay until the end of his seven-week mourning period.
During this time, Mr. Bao accidentally met a group of Vietnamese people with whom he had had a serious conflict nearly 20 years ago. This group filed a complaint against Mr. Bao for assault and the two sides took each other to the first instance court.
Because the opponent failed to present specific evidence, Mr. Bao won. However, according to US law, the two sides still have to meet in the appeals court, scheduled for early January 2026.
During this time, the above-mentioned group continuously spread defamatory information about Mr. Bao and his family, including falsely accusing him of being an international criminal who could be extradited to another country.

Speaking to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Vice President and General Secretary of VBF, affirmed: "Although Mr. Bao is in the US, he still contacts us about the management of boxing activities in the country, including the organization of tournaments such as the 2025 National Strong Team Tournament in April in Dak Lak and the 2025 National Youth Championship in July in Ninh Binh."
Mr. Vu Xuan Thanh, Deputy Head of the Department of High Performance Sports (Vietnam Sports Administration - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), Vice President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation, added: "We are always interested in Mr. Bao's personal work and management of VBF. The Vietnam Sports Administration has received information about this and has sent a document asking the competent authorities of Vietnam ( Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to verify information related to Mr. Luu Tu Bao abroad; directing the Vietnam Boxing Federation to hold a meeting, deploy work and assign a temporary person in charge so as not to affect the common work during Mr. Bao's absence."

According to the plan, the VBF Executive Committee Meeting will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on October 3. However, on the afternoon of September 4, the VBF Standing Committee will hold an online meeting and an extraordinary meeting of the Federation Executive Committee will take place tomorrow, September 5, to resolve the immediate and periodic tasks of the federation.
