On the evening of September 21, the final round of the 20th "Golden Bell of Traditional Opera" competition - 2025 took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater (HTV), bringing the audience a night of competition full of drama, emotion and suspense.

After fiery performances, the three best faces: Thuy Duong, Ha Nhu and Quan Tri officially entered the final ranking night, continuing the journey to reach the Golden Bell.

Explosive, emotional performances

The challenge of the third final round is that the contestants will perform excerpts from a social opera. This year, the organizers have arranged for the contestants to play difficult characters in a classic play – a script that requires the expression of inner depth and subtlety in expression.

The top 5 contestants brought the audience outstanding performances, demonstrating remarkable progress after many intense rounds.

Vuong Quan Tri with the excerpt "Durian Leaves" (author Kim Cuong, adapted by The Chau, Lam Tuyen) moved the whole audience with the vọng cổ lyrics of Sang when he regretted and acknowledged his mistake that because of his desire for wealth, he did not look at his mother. The audience was silent when Vuong Quan Tri expressed the character's torment and torment with the warm, poignant vọng cổ lyrics.

His voice and dramatic delivery of lines helped him create a realistic role that touched the hearts of the audience. Even though he was young and had never performed much on stage in plays, he broke out after the competition rounds, showing promise.

Contestant Ha Nhu transformed into the character Trinh in "Con gai chi Hang" (author Ha Trieu, Hoa Phuong) conquered the audience with her sweet voice and simple vibrato in vọng cổ verses. Like Quan Tri, she was too young to experience the ultimate pain of life: her mother left her father to live with her lover, then was jealous; she herself was misunderstood by her lover, decided to break off the engagement.

Contestants My Duyen and Phu Yen tried their best but had to leave the journey, leaving the audience and the panel of professional judges regretful.

Her performance as Trinh is considered soft, emotional, and clearly depicts the character's psychological depth.

Contestant Thuy Duong shined in "The Heart of the Sea" (author Ha Trieu, Hoa Phuong) with her natural singing and acting, and her natural role-playing helped her receive warm praise from the panel of professional judges.

Meanwhile, two contestants My Duyen and Phu Yen had to stop. Although they did not win the right to continue because of mistakes in handling and acting, both still left their own mark with their admirable efforts, promising to be potential factors for the future of Cai Luong theater.

From another perspective, People's Artist Trong Phuc said: "Each contestant has their own style. Quan Tri is introverted, Ha Nhu is sweet, Thuy Duong is strong. The upcoming competition on September 28 will be very unpredictable."
