On the morning of August 5, General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission and the Central working delegation visited and worked at the 12th Army Corps ( Ministry of National Defense ), on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

According to General Secretary To Lam , the 12th Army Corps is identified as the main, strategically mobile Army Corps organized in the direction of "refined, compact, strong," advancing towards modernization.

The 12th Corps' formations are units with a long tradition, tempered in revolutionary war and training, ready to fight, achieving many feats and excellent achievements. Therefore, the 12th Corps needs to preserve and promote the traditions of the Corps and the Vietnam People's Army in the new revolutionary period.

Acknowledging and appreciating the results that the 12th Army Corps has achieved in the past time, the General Secretary noted that in the coming time, there will be many new and heavy tasks in the cause of building the Army, consolidating national defense, protecting, building and developing the country.

Therefore, according to the General Secretary, the requirements for the 12th Army Corps must also be higher, requiring leaders and commanders at all levels to renew their thinking, strictly comply with regulations, be exemplary, and dare to sacrifice personal interests for the sake of duty.

The General Secretary requested that the 12th Corps focus on doing well in political and ideological education, building steadfast and firm political will in officers and soldiers, upholding revolutionary heroism, and being proud and honored to be "elite, compact, strong" officers and soldiers of the 12th Corps, the "iron fist" of the army.

"We must educate soldiers according to the motto "people first, guns later", "good training, strict discipline, high combat readiness, once in battle, victory", the General Secretary emphasized.

According to the General Secretary, it is necessary to urgently review and closely coordinate with localities after implementing the two-level local government model to arrange a suitable national defense posture.

The unit also needs to promptly complete plans for combat readiness, regional defense operations, and civil defense, while maintaining strict implementation of combat readiness regimes, ensuring that it is not passive or surprised in any situation.

For the localities where troops are stationed, it is necessary to further promote the task of "being a working army, a production labor army" to help localities complete socio-economic development tasks, and be a solid and trustworthy support for Party committees, authorities and people.

In addition, the General Secretary emphasized the need to focus on training to master new and modern weapons and equipment; strictly maintain the order of regular construction, discipline management, and build a lean, strong, and elite 12th Army Corps with comprehensive strength and high combat readiness.

Affirming that the 12th Corps is the main combat Corps, the General Secretary asked the unit to demonstrate its determination to make breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation; to build each officer and soldier into a "digital soldier", mastering digital platforms and having digital skills to perform tasks.

Along with that, the General Secretary noted the need to improve information security capacity, manage weapons well, and ensure that every battle is a victory.

The General Secretary requested the 12th Army Corps to resolutely fight against individualism in the new situation; strengthen internal political protection work and protect the Party's ideological foundation.

The 12th Army Corps was established on November 21, 2023, on the basis of merging the agencies and units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps.

Over half a century of building, fighting and growing, units of the former 1st and 2nd Corps - now 12th Corps - have always excellently completed all assigned tasks.

The unit was honored to welcome Uncle Ho to visit 13 times; was awarded 7 Ho Chi Minh Medals by the Party and State; 132 collectives and 99 individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
