Highly appreciating the visit of the UNESCO Director General to Vietnam and Thua Thien - Hue province, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Hue Monuments Complex being recognized by UNESCO, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong affirmed that Thua Thien - Hue province is steadfast in its development orientation based on the preservation and promotion of the values of the ancient capital's heritage and Hue's cultural identity, with cultural, heritage, ecological, landscape, environmentally friendly and smart characteristics.

Ms. Audrey Azoulay was delighted to visit Hue for the first time and appreciated the efforts that Thua Thien Hue province and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center have been making to restore, preserve, maintain and promote the values of the heritage that have been built.
“It is wonderful to stay in the space of Hue Imperial City, where so many cultures, understandings and skills of many generations of Vietnamese people crystallize. And in music, Hue Royal Music is the first Vietnamese asset to be recognized internationally, listed as an intangible heritage,” said Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

The Director General of UNESCO also emphasized that Hue is the first place to be ranked as a world heritage after Vietnam joined UNESCO. With these heritages, the knowledge of the workers who created them is extremely valuable and needs to be passed on to future generations. In particular, the work of restoring, promoting and preserving Hue heritage must take place forever, through many generations and always in the best condition.
The UNESCO Director General affirmed that choosing Hue during Vietnam's first visit to the country was to show Thua Thien - Hue that UNESCO is very interested in this place and that UNESCO will accompany Thua Thien - Hue to preserve and promote the value of Hue's heritage. UNESCO not only helps Hue in the technical field, but sometimes also in the financial field.
“We always love Hue and will accompany and develop with Hue. I admire Vietnam, a country that has well preserved its thousands of years of traditional culture,” Ms. Audrey Azoulay emphasized.

In recent times, with the active and effective technical and financial support as well as international mobilization for funding for Hue relics from UNESCO in the field of conservation and promotion of Hue cultural heritage values, Hue ancient capital heritage has overcome the emergency rescue phase and is gradually being revived, the original appearance of a historic ancient capital.
According to UNESCO's assessment, the conservation of Hue monuments is currently moving into a phase of stability and sustainable development. The restoration of monuments is carried out professionally, strictly complying with the International Convention on the Conservation of Monuments, the Law on Cultural Heritage and regulations on the preservation, restoration and restoration of historical and cultural relics - scenic spots, and regulations on basic construction, ensuring standards of conservation and the authenticity of the works. In particular, the conservation of cultural heritage values in the ancient capital of Hue is always closely linked to the process of exploiting and promoting heritage values and creating conditions for the socio-economic development of the province and the Central region, focusing on tourism and service economy.
At the Hue Imperial City, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and the delegation enjoyed a drum performance and a reenactment of the changing of the guard ceremony of the Nguyen Dynasty from the Ngu Phung pavilion before entering some locations in the Hue Imperial Palace. Afterwards, the delegation continued to visit An Dinh Palace and enjoyed an art program at Duyet Thi Duong Theatre.
