Summary of science and technology activities in 2024

This afternoon, January 15, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Quang Tri held a conference to summarize the activities of the S&T sector in 2024 and deploy tasks and plans for 2025. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien attended the conference.

In 2024, the science and technology sector achieved encouraging results, all targets met and exceeded the set plan. Specifically, as of December 2024, the province had implemented 44 science and technology tasks at all levels, of which 40 tasks were transferred from 2022, 2023 and 4 newly approved tasks to start implementation in 2024.

The tasks of science and technology are restructured, prioritizing investment in tasks associated with the development of key products of the province, focusing on research and application of high technology and key technologies of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in industries and fields. Scientific research and technology development are widely carried out in industries and fields.

Focus on supporting the application and replication of scientific and technological results. The Department of Science and Technology has promoted administrative procedure reform associated with the construction of e-government , promoting national digital transformation; improving the business environment, enhancing provincial competitiveness. Performing well the state management of technology and technology market; intellectual property; nuclear radiation safety; innovation and support for innovative startups...

In 2025, the Department of Science and Technology will develop, complete and effectively implement mechanisms and policies for science, technology and innovation development (S&I); Strategy for science, technology and innovation development to 2030 in Quang Tri province and assigned tasks in the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Focus on developing priority technologies that can be applied in practice to develop specific products that are suitable for the local competitive advantages. Effectively implement policies to support the application and replication of scientific and technological results and the project "Application of microbial products in agricultural production in the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030 in Quang Tri province".

Promote science and technology and innovation activities in enterprises and develop science and technology markets. Support incubation and establishment of enterprises and science and technology organizations; encourage the establishment of science and technology development funds in enterprises.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested the Department of Science and Technology to urgently coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications, departments, branches and localities to advise the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to issue an action program of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

Review and arrange tasks of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. Develop plans and programs to develop science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. Develop programs and plans to launch learning movements on digital platforms to become a regular and continuous "digital learning" movement; popularize and improve knowledge of science, technology, innovation, digital skills, and basic digital technology among cadres, civil servants and the people.

Quickly complete the process and procedures for merging the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Information and Communications according to the direction of the central government and the province. Collect a database to serve the calculation of the Local Innovation Index (PII) in 2025.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee of the "Innovative Startup" Competition in Quang Tri province held a ceremony to summarize and award the 2024 competition and launch the 2025 competition.

After the preliminary round, there were 48 projects/ideas participating in the contest. Based on objective evaluation and quality voting, the organizing committee selected 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 4 Third Prizes and 4 Encouragement Prizes for 2 categories of projects/ideas that have been applied in practice. In which, the First Prize belonged to the idea "Vision Mate - Glasses to support the visually impaired" by author Nguyen Tan Dung (Bui Duc Tai High School).
