Ho Chi Minh City prepares to invest in the first section of the Saigon River road.

This information was announced by the Department of Construction at a press conference providing information on socio -economic issues in the city on the afternoon of July 17.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that the Saigon River route in the new Ho Chi Minh City currently has two routes.

Route No. 1 (in the old Ho Chi Minh City area) stretches from the border of Tay Ninh province to Binh Khanh commune (old Can Gio district) with a total length of 78.2 km, expected to invest in a scale of 4-8 lanes.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing procedures to invest in the first section (from Ba Son Bridge to Saigon Bridge) with a scale of 31-33 m, length of 1.95 km, expected to be invested with capital from the City budget.

Route No. 2 (in the old Binh Duong province), runs along the Saigon River, extending from Dau Tieng district (old) to Thu Duc city (old). The route has a total length of 98.2 km, planned with a width of 32 m.

Currently, some sections in the area of Thuan An City, Thu Dau Mot (old) have been implemented investment procedures by Binh Duong Province (before merger).

For previously invested sections, the current status will be maintained to suit the reality and ensure resource savings. Particularly, the section from An Son Port to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, due to the need for large traffic connections and cargo transportation, should be adjusted to widen the roadbed to 42 m to effectively exploit the infrastructure in the area.

Some riverside road sections are part of urban development projects in Ben Cat City (old) that are attracting investment enterprises in combination with Tan An urban development, Tay Phu An urban area project, Tay An Tay urban area project, etc.

Currently, the investment in the Saigon River route is receiving the attention of many investors. Recently, Sun Group Corporation sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, proposing to study the investment in the Saigon River route and a 40 km long metro line in the old Cu Chi district.

Regarding the investment form, Sun Group proposed to invest in the form of BT, with a mechanism of land fund and investment rights in land plots along the Saigon River in Cu Chi district (old) with a total area of about 4,100 hectares.
