Ho Chi Minh City opens Lifelong Learning Week 2025

On the morning of October 1, at Nguyen Hue Walking Street (Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held the Opening Ceremony of the Lifelong Learning Week 2025 with the theme "Learning to develop yourself, mastering knowledge and technology, contributing to building a strong and prosperous country".

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized: “Studying is not only to accumulate knowledge but also a driving force for self-development, mastering technology and contributing to building a prosperous and powerful Vietnam. Every citizen of the City needs to be aware that lifelong learning is an inevitable journey, especially in the age of digital technology and artificial intelligence, striving for each person to be a digital citizen, a global learning citizen”.

The Lifelong Learning Week 2025 will take place from October 1 to 7 with a variety of activities such as workshops, digital skills competitions, practical topics, new technology experiences, programming, digital content creation, robot design, artificial intelligence applications and data science . The activities are aimed at spreading the spirit of lifelong learning, helping people access digital knowledge equally and conveniently, with special attention to disadvantaged groups, remote and isolated areas.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Oanh, former teacher of Le Thanh Ton High School, representing the example of a learning family, believes that lifelong learning is not only a right but also an opportunity open to everyone. “A learning family is the fundamental environment where members exchange, learn, and connect knowledge across generations. Learning has no age limit, it is never too late to start a new journey. The door to knowledge is always open if we are determined to enter,” Ms. Oanh said.

The Lifelong Learning Week is an annual event, with a different theme each year related to the development context of society. In 2022, the event will be organized with the theme "Promoting digital transformation to serve lifelong learning after the COVID-19 pandemic"; in 2023 with the theme "Building self-learning capacity in the digital age"; in 2024 with the theme "Developing a reading culture to promote lifelong learning".
