On the afternoon of September 25, at a press conference providing information on socio -economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the 2025-2026 school year, the city will continue to ensure 100% of school places for children of people living in the area.
However, according to Mr. Minh, after arranging administrative boundaries and conducting a review, the city's Education Department noted a significant difference in physical facilities between regions. Many schools have been invested in for a long time, but are now degraded and need to be maintained, repaired or replaced to ensure safety.
In addition, a few schools have not met the standards of facilities as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training . The difficulties are mainly concentrated in densely populated, bordering or rapidly urbanizing areas, which are facing student overload.
Regarding the plan to ensure school places for students, the Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training said that determining investment in facilities for schools is currently facing many difficulties due to the mechanical population increase in many areas due to urbanization.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City is coordinating with the Department of Finance to request wards and communes within their authority to review school facilities and equipment to ensure there are safe and qualified places to study.
"The proposed solution is to advance capital to educational institutions to re-equip unsafe teaching equipment. Transfer capital to Binh Duong Region 2 to build schools in areas with stress on classrooms and equipment, following the direction of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee," said Mr. Minh.
A representative of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that they are coordinating with localities to implement investment plans and develop new school networks, gradually balancing the system, meeting the requirements for education quality and the increasing learning needs of the people.
