Xuan Hong Commune launched a campaign to renovate fields to grow organic rice combined with raising earthworms and clams.

Xuan Hong Commune has just mobilized machinery to renovate 4.6 hectares of land to implement an organic rice growing model combined with raising earthworms and clams in village 8, with a budget of nearly 300 million VND from the local budget. This is the Gon Tron rice field located along the Lam River, which has the advantage of growing both rice and earthworms.

The model of organic rice cultivation combined with raising earthworms and clams is expected to open a new direction, helping farmers change their awareness in applying scientific and technical advances to production. Thereby, bringing high economic efficiency on the same unit area, while protecting the ecological environment, contributing to the development of sustainable agriculture . The implementation of the model also creates rice, earthworms and clams products that meet OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher; building value chains for rice, earthworms and clams products.

Xuan Hong commune currently has about 64 hectares of rice production with annual rươi, bringing high economic efficiency. The average rice yield in rươi fields is 56 quintals/ha, rươi is 3.6 quintals/ha, and cay is 2 quintals/ha. Organic rice cultivation on rươi-exploited land contributes to soil improvement, preserving the ecological environment, restoring natural rươi resources, creating clean, safe products with high economic value, favored by the market.
