Which universities will train talented engineers and masters in STEM?

To implement the Government's Project on training human resources to serve high-tech development in the 2025-2035 period and orientation to 2045, universities will be selected to participate in training talented engineers and masters in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued criteria and procedures for selecting training programs and training institutions to participate in the training program for talented engineers and masters in STEM fields.

This decision applies to higher education institutions participating in the implementation of the Project "Training human resources to serve high-tech development in the period 2025 - 2035 and orientation to 2045" according to the Prime Minister's decision (May 2025) and talent training programs in other STEM fields implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training.

STEM talent training programs need to meet 8 criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Accordingly, there are 8 criteria that schools need to meet to be selected.

Firstly, in the last 3 years of enrollment, each year the training program has recruited at least 10% of the total registered enrollment quota that meets the input standards of the talented training program standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Second, universities must develop and implement internal quality assurance processes, closely linked to training program output standards and course output standards; and at the same time have a quality assessment plan by reputable domestic or international assessment organizations.

Third, there is a system of laboratories serving training and research for high-tech industries that meets at least 60% of the school's needs.

Fourth, have training experience and reputation, demonstrated through parameters such as: having at least 5 PhD students or studying training programs in the field/group of fields of the registered talent training program in the last 3 years.

5th, the average number of scientific publications, intellectual property and scientific and technological application works per full-time lecturer must reach at least 0.6 works/lecturer in the last 3 years.

Sixth, cooperate with at least 2 prestigious foreign universities (according to prestigious international rankings QS/THE/...) in building and organizing the implementation of training programs in the field/group of fields of the registered talent training program; cooperate with at least 2 enterprises in building, updating and implementing training, internships and job support for students...

Seventh, there is a commitment to contribute or provide additional financial support to learners, teaching staff and facilities to better meet the needs of talented training programs.

8. The project outline profile according to the prescribed form of the project to register for the talent training program must be complete, clearly and explicitly explained.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, these criteria are set to ensure competitiveness, feasibility, development and widespread impact on the entire university education system.
